Allow me an Ego Moment and a Shout-Out:)
May. 10th, 2004 09:01 amI'm happy today! My friends David and Stan flew in from the Bay Area yesterday to see "Man of La Mancha". It was a solid Sunday evening performance and both of them praised the show to the hilt (and the Padre:) Ah - the totally objective comments of your close friends! LOL!
David has seen me do most of my major work since 1991, so he does have a frame of reference. I do believe this is some of my best work, so in this case, I do objectively agree with their assessment.
We are going to spend the afternoon together, have lunch down on the Pier if weather permits and then they are flying back to SF. The trip was planned as a continuation of my landmark birthday in late March. They were in Hawaii on my birthday and called, but promised that the day would be celebrated in person. Such good friends to keep such a promise... I cherish that! A shout-out to David and Stan!
I am truly humbled by the continuing gestures of love, the loyalty and thoughtfulness of my "family of choice", my circle of dear friends. Let the birthday season continue!

Re: Landmark birthday?
Date: 2004-05-10 04:21 pm (UTC)The photo I am using for my journal is my headshot; I believe (and have been assured) that I look exactly like my picture; albeit, a heightened reality present in all professional headshots.) After all, it is supposed to get me work:)
Re: Landmark birthday?
Date: 2004-05-10 05:23 pm (UTC)Were I a professional actor like yourself, I'd be relegated to the Uncle/grandfather/mentor, or perhaps "Hero's avuncular, clumsy sidekick" roles, if I were the good guy; otherwise, I'd be the evil henchman/villian's go-fer roles. The good news, is that with MY looks, I can go all the way from upper-crust Victorian to trailer-park trash with just a change of wardrobe. Since I don't have movie-star good looks, I can blend into the background fairly easily.
The photo is darn good, but then, you've got Peppa's "Handsome" filter going on, don't you? Doesn't seem to work for me... ;o)
