Faces in Unexpected Places

In chronicling the "Evita" Tour, I sometimes think I give the impression that I've not had any fun between San Francisco in March and now in Costa Mesa. My posts, particularly last month with Hurricane Rita the focus, were often sombre. Before too much time passes, I'd like to share a few photos of good times with good people in recent months:) As always, thanks to
gotmoof for his gracious help in posting the pictures!

Girl Friends

Piggybacking in San Diego
Kim Jordan is our Assistant Director. We go back 13 years and she's filling in as a dancer on tour from time to time. Here we're in rehearsal for "The Money Comes Rolling In". I think she was napping while on my back:)

Dipping Candy
Candy Olsen is the tango dancer in "Evita" and a dear friend from "Phantom" days. We surprised everyone when we took to the dance floor when the cast went Salsa dancing in Atlanta. (The picture's courtesy of Joel Briel and a bit blurry as we were moving:)

Puppy Love
Sara Edwards, from Hershey, PA has left the show; Candy's still with the tour. We found this cute little guy on Beale Street in Memphis.
Men in Montreal
Though we put five new people into the show in Montreal, I was fortunate to get to meet Jim and Randy from Upstate New York, Anthony and Mike from Boston and to have long time friend Steve (from Little Rock) stay with me for the week. Steve also introduced me to a good friend of his who lives in the outskirts of Montreal, also a Mike. Five out of seven of us are on live journal:)

Jim
tbone1961 and his steady guy, Randy. Both terrific guys!

Anthony
quietkub and his partner Mike,
ultrahip. It was nice to finally meet the couple. Anthony and I have been online friends for a few months. Mike was new to me.

Steve,
rossbear and his sexy French-Canadian friend, Mike. Mike's a bodybuilder and works in law enforcement.
Cincinnati... Without WKRP

chrisglass at the Cheesecake Factory in Cincinnati. It was great to finally meet one of my favorite photographers on Live Journal. He's a great guy and I came away from this lunch feeling like I'd made a new friend!

Date: 2005-10-11 05:23 pm (UTC)King Missile
Date: 2005-10-12 09:43 am (UTC)I happened upon King Missile in the 80's (I believe?) in NY when I returned to the US from Italy. As NY 'chic' was coming back to life, King Missile seemed part of that chic :0)
An English colleague and I went to one of their concerts somewhere in the East Village one night after we congregated at the Boy Bar near St Mark's Place. There was John Hall and Dog-something (sorry, long time ago and too lazy to google :0)) but not yet Chris Xefos...
I thought they were terrific: part irreverent satire - at times even insolent, part is-this-poetry poetry? part jamming rocks, dude! They were a kind of 'white rapping' that was smart and authentic by staying with rock instead of ripping off black music, you know, like.. Emimen did hip hop.
I never thought of King Missile as 'alternative'. To me, it's either music I relate to or don't. And I totally relate to "Detachable penis' and "Take stuff from work" or "Dick" and the others. I always laugh my head off when I hear them.
