Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] musicbearmn for his thoughtfulness! I really appreciate my birthday gift, though this little guy followed me around the country for awhile. Dan sent a beautifully wrapped package in March from Marshall Fields in Minneapolis to our tour address in Maryland . The company wouldn't forward the box (too large) to me, so I agreed to pay for it to be shipped to San Francisco. Though the office sent it by Priority Mail, it took over two weeks to arrive at my hotel, unfortunately getting there two days after our run of "Evita" had ended and I had flown home to Texas.

Thanks to the manager of the Grosvenor Suites in SF, who paid to have it forwarded to me via express service, the package finally caught up to me on April 14. Duckworth, as I've named him, now resides in a small town in Texas! I took this self-portrait of my new friend and me in my living room at home. Again, thanks Dan!! I really appreciate that you took time to celebrate my special day. Big Hugs!!

My first attempt at using the "self-portrait" function of my digital camera:) Notice! I'm not wearing a baseball cap! LOL! Thanks for posting the picture for me!

Ah the joys of mail redirection when you're on tour with a show! It was much better in the old days when any theatre's stage door would act like a post office!

I agree! You never have mail sent directly to venues/theaters any more, particularly packages. They won't accept them. Dan has no idea how delighted I was by the surprise gift! Thanks for commenting!

Don't tell me you collect ducks?? He's cute and I want :)

I have a collection of stuffed bears...which were gifts connected to various shows (not surprising:), a gorilla, Gumby and Pokey (based on a dating situation I once had:) and a tattered beagle. Duckworth is my first duck. He's cute! I don't think we're ever too old for soft, cuddly things to hug!

I would agree about soft cuddly things......but all don't have to be of the stuffed plush animal nature :)

I have a stuffed Gorilla, various beanie babies, a couple of stuffed bears (one is a Coke Bear), Opus the Penguin, Santa-sarus (He is the creation of a local guy as the keeper of Santa's Bad List and was a gift), Mitchel The Buffalo (From Mitchell, SD of course), an Ovaltine Marketing Stuffed Plushie and a half dozen duckies.

There are more...but sometimes you CAN have too many soft cuddly stuffed plushies. My mini menagerie needs to be thinbed down a bit. Thankfully there are some great childrens charities in the area to donate them to.

I should gather all mine together an post a picture of my collection.

Wow!

Florida's not my favorite place... Since it's only a week, I'm just focusing on work and a graceful exit from here on Monday.

I'm a fan of Dan's. I'm happy to be able to call him a friend! I really appreciated the unexpected gift!

Totally

Oh yeah, that's what I meant: fan = friend.

Nope. Not a fan of hot humid climates which is why I don't often spend much time in Houston...or Florida. I was a life guard in my teens and a redhead. It's left me with a legacy of sun damage. I'm much more comfortable and happy in the Pacific Northwest. It's also one of the reasons I'm so looking forward to May in Toronto.

Lifeguard, huh?

Ah.... thank you my friend for the compliment! It takes courage at my age to post a picture that's such a close-up...can't hide behind filters and shadows...LOL! Major hugs!!

Did I tell you???...

Neil, has anyone ever told you how photogenic you are? 'Cause if not, you are very photogenic indeed, even in a closeup! :-)

And the stuffed duck? That's just dang cute as a button.

Glad it finaly got caught up to you.

Thanks for the compliment! I've never thought of myself as particularly photogenic, but I'm getting better about seeing myself in pictures. I guess we all view ourselves in a certain way, even if it's a terrific photo that everyone likes:) Duckworth is cute as a button and I appreciate the whimsical gift!

For years, neither did I find myself particularly photgenic either, infact, I hated how I looked until more recent years. I guess I've grown up some. LOL.

FINALLY IT HAPPENED TO YOU!!!

I was really getting quite worried that Duckworth was going to just follow you around the nation. Duckworth's twin is sitting on my desk...he sings "Singing in the Rain" ala GEne Kelly...watch my next pic post and you'll see him.

Better late birthday present than never! A special friend for a special friend.

On another note, you would just laugh...the artistic director is gone this week, so I get to do the curtain speeches and the post-show discussions for the daytime matinees. The Judy Garland show is getting rave reviews so far...so wish you could see it. :)

Love ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Dan! I would love to see the Judy Garland Show:) I'm a big fan of hers...go figure....LOL!

It's seems funny to me that someone I've never met in person could seem like a long time friend. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and understanding that I so enjoy a whimsical surprise (and that birthdays rank up there with Christmas with me:)

I guess I'll have to bring Duckworth with me when I finally meet you. We can put him next to yours and....um.... yes, I'm going to say it... no groans....have all of our ducks in a row...*giggle* Hugs!
