Welcome to the Christmas edition of getting to know your friends.
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Fabulous Wrapping Paper!
2. Real tree or artificial? Artificial. Too many family members with allergies. It is a tradition, however, to put up the same artificial tree for over 40 years. It’s still looks pretty good.
3. When do you put up the tree? Usually the first week of December.
4. When do you take the tree down? January 2
5. Do you like eggnog? Love it, but not the calories.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? When I was 11, I asked for a typewriter. I got a car race track set. I ruined Christmas for everyone. Subsequently, my sister and I traded and I had the typewriter. Hence, my favorite:)
7. Do you have a nativity scene? No.
8. Hardest person to buy for? No one really. I usually have a good feel for what someone wants or would like.
9. Easiest person to buy for? My mother.
10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? See #6. The race track set. Also, I usually don’t like people to buy me clothing. There are a couple of exceptions.
11. Mail or email Christmas cards? Always snail mail. I want the contact to be personal during the holidays.
12. Favorite Christmas movie? White Christmas
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Throughout the year.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Yes, as I should if I’m not making use of it. I believe in being able to say to friends and family, “Thank you, but no thank you” if you receive something you really can’t use or don’t like.
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Sour Cream Cookies, frosted and decorated.
16. Clear lights or colored on the tree? Colored, though I have clear on this year’s tree.
17. Favorite Christmas song? Two- Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and I’ll Be Home For Christmas
18. Travel for Christmas or stay home? Mostly at home with my folks since I still have them; however, there have been many years on tour where Christmas came to me.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Nope. Just the important ones:)
20. Angel on the treetop or a star? Star most years; this year, a circle of angels.
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas Eve ... though we always leave one to open on Christmas morning.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? I understand that not everyone celebrates the holiday, has the same traditions and beliefs, but please don’t ruin it for me. Christmas and birthdays are my thing. Any other holiday is negotiable.
23. What I love most about Christmas? It's not about the religious for me ... it's about the contact. The warm fuzzies. It’s the one time of the year where I make sure to call, write or see as many folks as possible; it's an opportunity to remind them how much they mean to me. Also, I love the traditions - the music, the baking, the decorating, the giving of gifts ... The season is the reason:)
