First Week of August Birthdays

mrdreamjeansAfter posting 29 times in July, I'm trying to wean myself a bit from Live Journal:) However, how can I do so without first acknowledging some very special birthdays? And taking a shot at a Meme with some unusual questions ...
The list is incomplete; but I'm very fortunate to have met most of these men or have interacted with them frequently on LJ. Here's a great big Happy Birthday to a very handsome group of men! May you celebrate surrounded by those who love you the most! Your bud in Brenham appreciates you!

1. Who was your first prom date?
Connie Vandenburg. She was a Senior and I was a Junior. She was killed in a motorcycle accident three weeks after the Prom and was buried in her prom dress.
2. Who was your first roommate?
Other than sharing a room with my siblings when I was growing up, my roommate in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University. I hated it so much, I've blanked out any details. I've mostly lived alone.
3. What was your first alcoholic drink?
Doesn't apply. I come from a family of non-drinkers and haven't had an alcoholic drink.
4. What was your first job?
Cleaning up surgery and the delivery room in a hospital the Summer I was 14.
5. What was your first car?
A neon yellow 1970 Dodge Demon. We called the car Nixon.
6. Who was the first person you texted today?
I have texting blocked.
7. Who is the first person you thought of this morning?
A group ... My friends in Minneapolis.
8. Who was your first grade teacher?
I called my mother and sister and we can't remember. The rest of my teachers in elementary school were memorable, as we were in a town of 500. Mrs. Jennerette (2nd), Mrs. Sanburg (3rd) (She taught us to square dance and do the Virginia Reel); Mrs. Londin (4th); and Mrs. Maude Dobner (5th). She used to hit my hand with a ruler because she didn't want me, as a lefty, to write with a hook. She also told my mother I was going to be a singer and gave me my first piece of sheet music, "Sweet Little Jesus Boy".
9. Where did you go on your first ride on an airplane?
San Francisco with my father. It was my high school graduation present. I was scared shitless, because I had never been alone with him. It turned out to be a wonderful experience.
10. When you snuck out of your house for the first time, who was it with?
Never happened.
11. Who was your first best friend and are you still friends with them?
My sister Colleen and we are very close.
12. Where was your first sleep over?
Grandma Fritts' house. I told my Dad I was running away from home. I insisted he drive me to my grandmother's home 135 miles away. He gave me a potato and a loaf of bread to take with me:) I stayed with her for 3 days before I called and begged to go home. I found out she had rules too.
13. Who was the first person you talked to this morning?
My nephew Ryan. The Twins came over this morning and mowed, edged and trimmed. The yard looks terrific! Bring on the buyers!
14. Whose wedding were you in the first time?
I've sung at both of my sister's weddings and at my brother's.
15. What is the first thing you do in the morning?
Stumble out of bed and then make it.
16. What was the first concert you ever went to?
The first I remember clearly was Sonny & Cher at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at the Astrodome. We also saw Dolly Parton, Anne Murray, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Eddy Arnold and Elvis over the years.
17. First tattoo or piercing?
Don't have either.
18. First foreign country you went to?
Canada - 1960
19. First crush?
I had a strange attraction to Johnny Quest's father:) I don't really have crushes that I don't act on.
20. When was your first detention?
Never happened.
21. What was the first state you lived in?
Pennsylvania
22. Who was the first person to break your heart?
Me
23. Who was the first person you "slept with"?
Hmmm ... that assumes a bed ... a sexy drummer named Robin when I was 20.
