Knowing what it takes ...

I now know what it takes for me to accomplish several items on my agenda, items of procrastination and fudged deadlines. Live Journal has to be down for several hours:) I felt a twinge of withdrawal around 7pm, but recovered nicely with a bowl of cherry vanilla ice cream.

My clothes are clean, the fridge and pantry are stocked once again and the bathroom has been cleaned. I had time for a nice long phone chat with tkn1114 and finally got several pieces of delayed correspondence written and snail mailed:) I also appreciated the long overdue conversation with septimuswarren on Monday evening and the check-ins from gotmoof in the past couple of days.

I spent Tuesday following up on job leads, checking multiple Minneapolis/St Paul websites, but hit a wall similar to LJ's when I tried Craigs List for the Twin Cities. Their server in Colorado was also down. My hot lead for Las Vegas cooled off, but remains a possibility. My name is in the hat.

Mornings are toughest right now. That's when a hint of depression presents its sluggish self, when my emotions are closest to the surface; but I'll push through it. I really believe that it is situational depression, not clinical, in nature. It's nothing that a great paying job that I enjoy doing (or performing), in a city with friends nearby, couldn't cure instantly:)

I believe you are your work. Don't trade the stuff of your life, time, for nothing more than dollars. That's a rotten bargain.

Yup! When I reflect on the rare times where I have worked in a job strictly for the money, I've usually been frustrated and unhappy. Being productive, created and appreciated are more important to me (as long as I do make enough to cover my responsibilities.)

About all you can do in life is be who you are. Some people will love you for you. Most will love you for what you can do for them, and some won't like you at all.

I think it's important to understand that it isn't a reasonable expectation that everyone will like you. My most flawed decisions have been when I was hoping to be liked, instead of respected. Neediness should never take priority over common sense.
