Doo...Doo...Doo
Mar. 2nd, 2006 07:15 pmI woke up this morning singing this ... went to bed last night singing this ... sang it so many times this morning in my apartment that my neighbors, if they heard it, must have thought there was a truck backing up outside of the building:) It’s the majority of the lyric for “The Wrong Note Rag”. We were told yesterday to go home and have our vocal parts down pat, because this morning we were going to dance to it. It’s rhythmically quite difficult and dissonant. Either you do the memory work or you’re going to be in deep doo doo doo (pun intended) with the musical director and choreographer.
In this morning’s rehearsals, we found out that all of us are dancing in the number. My challenge will be to make Officer Lonigan, dancing a flippant little step to the ditty, but dressed in uniform, silly but not undignified. I had the same challenge in “Anything Goes” five years ago when I was the captain of the ship and had to strut my stuff in “Blow Gabriel Blow”:) I find it best just to dance the numbers well ... sell, sell, sell the message of the song and just leave your worries (and dignity) at the stage door. *grin*
Captain and Mrs. Harcourt in "Anything Goes" ... With my friend Ellen McClain ...

I’m singing more in the show than I expected to. In addition to my number, “My Darlin’ Eileen”, I’m singing parts of the opening number, “Christopher Street”, offstage on a mic for “A Quiet Girl” and “It’s Love”, in “Wrong Note Rag” and then the finale which is a reprise of “It’s Love”. I may not be visible, but those who know my voice, will hear me. Otherwise, look for me dancing and sweating in a wool uniform:)
This may be my last post for a couple of weeks. As I wrote three weeks ago, I opened my new G4 iBook to a cracked screen when I was flying from Huntsville, Alabama to Kitchener, Ontario. Applecare is having a look-see. I maintain the screen/lid has been warped since I bought it on October 9 in Costa Mesa. I know I haven’t dropped it. I’ve kept it in its case on travel days and never put it in the overhead space on the plane. If Applecare doesn’t cover it, I will be mightily pissed. I’ve been told the cost of replacing the screen is about $1000, almost the cost of the laptop itself. Fingers crossed, that Apple stands behind its product. Irregardless, they’re sending packaging for it and it will take two weeks to get it back (if all goes well). I’d like to have it back by my birthday ... I know I am going to suffer from email and livejournal withdrawl. Think of me, think of me fondly .... LOL! Meanwhile, it’s back to , “Doo doo doo____ Doo doo doo ____ Doo doo doo____ They call it the Wrong Note Rag!”
