Northwest Passage:)
Feb. 18th, 2005 10:00 pmThe days at home flew by. It was an all-day travel experience on Valentines Day, but on both legs of the trip from Hartford to Austin via St Louis, the planes arrived early. I actually arrived in Austin 30 minutes early. However, I've never been so uncomfortable on a plane. American's puddle-jumpers are small. There is one row of seats on one-side and two rows on the other; the overhead space is nonexistent for both bags or anyone over 5'8":) It makes Southbest Airlines even more appreciated!
I spent a lot of time on business items this week since I won't be home again until mid-April after the San Francisco run. I also spent a day in Houston catching up with my friends Ann and Casey. I didn't make it into Houston the entire month I was home before the week in Connecticut. We had a nice lunch at the Salt Grass Trail Steakhouse; I also spent some time with Casey at her office. (She's also my investment counselor as well as friend of 28 years:)
I bought myself a spiffy new leather jacket for the West Coast swing, as I "undergrew" (grin) my old jacket; and I just spent about a day and half repacking my two large suitcases. The suitcases can't weigh more than 50 lbs a piece, but that's difficult to do when one of my suitcases weighs close to 20 lbs empty:) Plus, I'm carrying a tux and appropriate shirts for the benefit in San Fran. Right now, each bag is at 47 lbs.
My 20-year old niece surprised us tonight and drove an hour from College Station just to have dinner and hang out a bit with her uncle and grandparents. Cait's a great kid and was full of news and energy.... and left full of homemade pizza and chocolate chip cookies which her grandmother had just made:) I'm on Southwest Airlines tomorrow, so I always carry food for the long flights. Homemade rolls and cookies are also going with me. I've been on the phone tonight with pyrogeoff and in communication during the week with lowfatmuffin, nashobabear, sflonestar, lowfatmuffin, bluedevilsf and several Seattle friends, so it's been a busy few days.
I fly out tomorrow for the Northwest and the run of "Evita" in Spokane. I will have visits with a couple of Seattle actor friends during that time, including my young actor friend Matt who calls me his Big Gay Uncle:) I look forward to hearing how my bedroom furniture is doing in David's garage in Wallingford. Funny - I just spent a week playing Wallingford, CT and my bedroom set is in the Wallingford area of Seattle:)
On Sunday, I'll post the final set of lyrics I wanted to share with my friends here on Live Journal. Thanks to everyone who commented on the songs, both on LJ and privately. I appreciate hearing that they are being read, as I was shy about sharing something so personal. It's odd to come across something you haven't seen for so long and to see the writing with fresh eyes (mine and yours:) For now, it's off to Austin in the morning and points Northwest mid-afternoon.
