Daddy Time

I wrote these lyrics on this date in 1993. I was struggling to understand several issues, particularly sex addiction and the plague affecting so many of my friends. I was angry and it shows. I consider it a failed attempt, never entirely satisfied with my writing. I've never quite decided whether to eliminate the last stanza. To me, I was issuing a warning to those who might judge the decisions we make. For what it's worth, here's what I was pondering exactly 12 years ago today...

DADDY TIME

A search for lewd adventure drove a good man to despair
when his appetite for lust and love made him unaware
that he’d become quite careless, was seldom in control,
in fact he’d lost his way, his heart ... sex his only goal.

Permanently punished with no hope of parole,
our lecher was prevented from taking further strolls.
He’s sitting in a jail cell, a lonely benediction,
unaware there’s more in store, a legacy of his addiction.

Daddy Time..... begins his nightly walk
Aberation of our passion, ticking of the clock.
Daddy Time..... Years to replicate,
does his deed and makes it count till
Daddy Time..... Daddy Time.... strikes again.

Preying on those strangers excited by the chase,
Daddy fooled the unsuspecting with his unassuming face,
His victims all embraced him for the exhilarating high
of acting as a vessel for his devilish goodbyes.

The smooth seductive poison of his soothing subtle touch,
sip of toxic cocktail, a weak and useful crutch
for drinkers of desire, seduced by Daddy’s hand
His feasting unabated in the shadows 'cross the land.

Daddy Time..... begins his nightly walk,
contaminating passion, ticking of the clock.
Daddy Time..... with years till he is stopped,
sits and counts the seconds till the next time
Daddy Time.... Daddy Time.... strikes again.

As you might have guessed, Daddy’s a disease
damaging desire, contaminating seed.
A caution to the holier who think he’ll never come.
No house, no home is ever safe till Daddy’s work is done.
