Tim ([livejournal.com profile] gotmoof) graciously agreed to post two more pictures of the restored interior of The Palace Theatre in Waterbury, Connecticut. The first is of the Lobby of the theatre which is quite lovely with its mix of rich colors and gleaming polished marble floors. The second picture is a sideview of the proscenium and a closeup of the organ pipes. We haven't been able to determine if the pipes are decorative or if they were actually used for their suggested/intended purpose. I'm going to play detective:)

It makes the addition/renovation of the Hippodrome here in Charm City look like a school project...

except for... what's up with the rocket jets under the organ balconies!?! :)

btw, I am certain those pipes would have been used for what they were intended...

Looks almost as grand as one of the Fox theatres (only been to the one in St. Louis).

Seeing all the plastic over the seats reminds me of the Belasco in the weeks before the first preview of "Dracula".... makes me chuckle as to how things are somewhat of a mess almost right up to the last minute!

I hope all is well for you as you embark on the tour!

Big hugs from the big apple! XOXO

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing them.

I would think that those pipes were for a theatre organ and the real deal.

The plastic over the plush red seats does lend a ghostly touch:) The Fox Theatres are stunning. The lobby area of the one in St Louis is particularly distinguished. The Fox in Atlanta is 5000 seats and there are clouds and stars floating in the ceiling/sky as you perform.

I haven't been to the Fox in Detroit, but I think it's gone through renovation. It's too bad that these glorious theatres are in such blighted areas in their respective cities. There is so much glamour and history attached to the chain.

The concensus seems to be that they are real pipes. I guess I'll have to go in search of the organ:)

if there is a pit, check off to either side of the pit. in most theatres like that, the organ would be raised up with the pit.
