Now that I've got your attention, I must admit I'm a big fan of college football:) I was home from my trip only three hours when I drove to Bryan/College Station to attend the Texas A&M-Clemson football game. At the 6pm kick-off, it was 97 degrees and humid, but fortunately, the late television start put my sister's season seats in the shadows. (Say that three times in a row real fast:) A steady breeze kept it from being too unpleasant and with the company of my best friend from college and his wife as well as my beloved sister, we had a great time. Course - it helped that we beat Clemson 27-6!

My favorite player was our tight end Boone Stutts:) Our coach used about eight different wide-receivers. Does that make his game plan one of promiscuity or acumen? I just know if I played the game, I'd want to be the quarterback and be the one completing the passes. HA!

It's going to be hard being home from "two weeks of perfect". I could immediately tell the difference from my West Coast visit on the drive home. As I criss-crossed the Colorado River, there were lots of reminders. The road-kill count stood at four - three armadillos and one coyote; the abundant trailer parks and campgrounds looked all too permanent; a big banner sign along side Hwy 71 said, "Repent now, there may be no later"; the bumper sticker on the junk car in front of me (doing 45mph in a 70 mile zone) said, "America, Bless God" (I was so irritated I was using God's name in other inventive ways:); the twins were working the drive-through at my bank. It really is like seeing double and they've both worked at the bank for over 25 years, wearing the same frizzy permed mullets and friendly smiles.

I ate lunch at Fillip's Barbecue. They have the best chicken teriyaki anywhere. And yes, it's a hole-in-the-wall barbecue joint owned by a Chinese Couple who purchased it from a Chinese Church. Multi-culturalism can even reach a town of 4500:) I also completed a really top-notch novel during lunch which I would highly recommend. It's called "Sammy's Hill". It's by Kristin Gore, Al Gore's daughter. Who knew he had a talented daughter who wrote for Saturday Night Live and Futurama:)

Well - time to unpack the suitcases and start to repack them for the trip to NYC to begin "Evita". If this sounds overly organized, it's just because there's not a lot of room in my folks' home and my stuff is mostly in storage. If it's cold- weather clothes, I'll not be using them before I leave, so why not be ahead of the game.

Speaking of games....no really.... what is your answer to the title of my post? Tight end or Wide-receiver? Or perhaps, you're a tackle. HA!
