I got home last night at 8pm from work and a real estate agent was showing my house to a couple. It was the third showing of the day. Feedback has been positive. The first lady wanted the house, but there's no room for her baby grand piano. The second person is a real estate agent who wants the house for herself. The third couple, the ones I met, are from Houston. The showing ran so late because the man was working a Texas Children's Hospital, left Houston at 4pm and, due to traffic, didn't arrive until 7:30pm. It's a good thing I cleaned house the night before. We'll see what happens .. I didn't expect so much interest so early on, but there are a lot of displaced folks out there ... I'm definitely holding firm on the selling price.

mah fingus be crossed!!! Maybe the real estate agent will take it and your agent can work with her to make the deal happen quickly. But yes, hold firm on the price unless the market has collapsed as it has out here. Hugs.

The market has been holding up here and a legacy of the storm may be a shortage of housing within 100 mile radius of Houston. Plus, a 2000+ sq ft house with a large lot, even acreage can be gotten for between $250,000 and $300,000. Just the difference in the market.

Wonderful news! Myself and my partner are in the processes of getting his house of 21+ years on the market so that we can move and be closer to our jobs. We have been working steadily for 6 months now. That tells you how much needed to be done. We work on it every night and all day on the weekend. We've only had 3 minor blow ups! We get along wonderfully so it's been a labor of love for sure. We need to have it ready to put on the market by Feb 1 of next year. I wish we were moving now! Gas is killing me!!

Will keep my fingers crossed that you have a quick & smooth sale of your place.

I wish you well in getting it all ready. What a treat to have someone to share the work .. and the joy of the eventual sale .. with ...I moved from the job in La Grange because all of the driving and the price of gas. Now, because of Ike, here I am commuting 850 miles a week ... Fortunately, tonight I found gas on the way out of Houston for $3.28/gallon. Hard to believe that this price sounds good:)

i think your house has a lot of charm and potential for its size. With the right agent and market, I believe you can sell it. I'm still flabbergasted that my agent sold mine within six days. He was much more aggressive and direct than the other realtors. (He didn't have very much good to say about the first one either.)

You better prepare for what comes next! I'm exhausted from cleaning the house out yesterday and today, but tomorrow, I hope, will be a breeze!

Neither one of us has much good to say about that first realtor. It still makes me mad when I think of the promises she made you (n front of me) and the subsequent reality. I'm glad that your realtor knew exactly what it took to sell your house; the difference with me is that I have a mortgage to pay off too.

I wish I was there to help you ... to say goodbye to the house where I spent a lot of hours and have good memories. Even Mom and Dad are invested a bit emotionally; they've both been to La Crosse.

I'm eye-balling items and thinking of pre-packing what I absolutely don't need in case the house sells quickly.

The timing will determine what I do. If the house sells quickly, all will go into storage and I suppose I'll stay with Casey for a month or two and save up money to move out of state. I said I'd give this job a year and that date is November 30. I won't rent in Houston .. as I said in our phone conversation, rental property is going to be at a premium with so many displaced folks. In the short run, I can stay with Mom and Dad or Colleen on the weekends. *shrugs* ... I didn't expect an offer on the first day the house was shown.

Great news ! I don't know what the other houses in your neighborhood look like, but yours has always struck me as exceptionally picturesque (which I suspect is an extra selling point).

Thanks for the positive thoughts! The neighboring houses are picturesque too, but I think mine has a paritcular charm, especially inside. We'll see what happens!
