1. Put 400 bricks in a closed room.

2. Put your new hires in the room and close the door.

3. Leave them alone and come back after 6 hours.

4. Analyze the situation:

A. If they are counting the bricks, put them in the Accounting Department.
B. If they are recounting them, put them in Auditing.
C. If they have messed up the whole place with the bricks, put them in Engineering.
D. If they are arranging the bricks in some strange order, put them in Planning.
E. If they are throwing the bricks at each other, put them in Operations.
F. If they are sleeping, put them in Security.
G. If they have broken the bricks into pieces, put them in Information Technology.
H. If they are sitting idle, put them in Human Resources.
I. If they say they have tried different combinations, they are looking for more, yet not a brick has been moved, put them in Sales.
J. If they have already left for the day, put them in Management.
K. If they are staring out of the window, put them in Strategic Planning.
L. If they are talking to each other, and not a single brick has been moved, congratulate them and put them in Top Management.
M. Finally, if they have surrounded themselves with bricks in such a way that they can neither be seen nor heard from, put them in Congress.

I love the brick test.

How are things going out your way? Will you have to go into work today?

I'm impressed with your planning around your career. I have had to do the same, but I did it from a more stressed out place, so I applaud your ability to plan ahead as you are experiencing difficulty and stress. Lean on your friends and family, if need be!

We were given today off, though I've already fielded a call from our regional sales and marketing manager. I haven't even gotten dressed yet:) I'm hoping I can pull off a move in the near term. Unfortunately, like many folks, I'm only a paycheck away from things falling apart. I'm making good money, but the time spent as an unpaid caregiver to my Dad has me coming from behind. I'm catching up, but getting ahead is another matter. I'll just keep challenging myself to make the changes to be happy and balanced again. Thanks for asking!

My family and friends have kept me going ...

LOL! Thanks for an early morning chuckle. I would likely do (C), even though I'm not an Engineer. The bricks come closest to Lego blocks, and I love Lego.

I had a fondness for Lincoln Logs and Tinker-Toys, too. No Erector set though, but that was never a problem! :)

Oddly enough, I think you just described the management at my store with that. *eyeroll*

That's too bad to hear ... I think I'd try to decorate the bricks and make them pretty:) LOL! Hope your work today goes well.

Hugs!

Ya know... even though this is meant as a joke, there's an awfully high amount of truth to this as well.

That makes this both funny AND scary at the same time.

XOXO

What if they are building usable structures?

Had to ask, I would be playing and building things.

Hugs!

Of course, you'd be in sales management! :)

The sun's been out all day, though it's getting a bit cloudier.

Back at ya, my friend!

It stayed in Louisiana. It's now a category 1 storm. It's supposed to head up through East Texas and dump a lot of rain.

I keep reminding myself that you kept your eye on your goal/dream and found a way to accomplish it. I've been on several job sites today; been pursuing an appt with two real estate agents to get the house listed; eye-balling what items I can sell. Feeling particularly unsettled this holiday weekend.

Good luck with the start of the school year and with the website.

HUGS!

You'll make it. Just stay focused. Let me know whatever I can do to help when you're in NY. You need to come cut that cd. That needs to be an item in the whole scheme of things.

Hugs!
