Birthday Wishes with Flowers
Jun. 21st, 2008 07:15 amI'm headed to the airport in a couple of hours, already mostly packed. With the travel today, and the organization to move some of my things to Houston tomorrow, I don't want to miss out on wishing four very special people a very happy birthday. So this morning, I celebrate
prokampf and
markosf in California,
quietdanmn here in the Twin Cities and
bansagart in Portland! Happy Birthday, my friends!
In honor of your birthdays, I'm posting a few photos that I captured on Thursday of the beautiful flowers of the Como Conservatory in St. Paul. I'm not very knowledgeable about what they are (except the orchids and the rose and even then I don't know what type they are); perhaps folks can enlighten me. Here's a birthday bouquet! Enjoy!

Date: 2008-06-21 03:41 pm (UTC)The first one looks like a hibiscus and the second like a dahlia :) Elfkat can probably identify them all!

Date: 2008-06-24 06:05 am (UTC)The trivia geek in me can't resist the challenge (takes deep breath... it's 1:00 am and the brains are fried from drafting): Off the top of my head, the flowers are:
1. Hibiscus (what a gorgeous color hybrid!)
2. Gerberia (sometimes called African daisy ?)
3. some sort of Geranium (maybe a Pelargonium?)
4. Rose (but I don't know its name)
5. Orchid (perhaps a Dendrobium species)
6. Clematis hybrid (originally they're deep purple, with only 4 petals)
7. another Clematis hybrid - jazzy color !)
8. a Bromeliad (an ornamental member of the pineapple family ... my mom used to grow them in pink)
Aren't professor-types annoying? :0)
Hugs!
