I finished my stay in Austin this morning with an 8-step program...twice. I’m sort of a neatnik, so before I left my sister’s home, I washed all of the towels and bedding, made up the bed I had been sleeping in with clean linens, vacuumed the house, took out the garbage, shopped for groceries so Colleen wouldn’t have to when she returned, shoveled manure for one last time, filled up the water trough for the horses and had my brother-in-law’s truck and my truck washed at a local car wash. Not bad for two-hours work!

The car wash is where the eight steps come in; an attendant prewashes your vehicle paying careful attention to the windows and wheels; you then enter a laser automated area, are treated to an undercarriage washing and coating with rustoleum, presoaking (twice!), washing, rinsing, waxing and coating with wax (which are evidently two different processes:) and a spot-free rinsing. You then pull out why these big blowers suck off the moisture from your newly clean vehicle.

All I had to do was sit in the truck while all this was happening and sing, “Car wash, working at the car wash, girl..oh, oh, oh...” I did this twice. ... and yes, I sat in the air-conditioned vehicles and sang this silliness both times! LOL! It was a good deal, all eight steps for eight dollars:)

My newly clean truck and I hit the road back to Brenham and, because my truck was sparkling clean, I hit rain, construction and (just ouside of Giddings, Texas), the love bug brigade. By the time I hit Brenham 30 minutes later, my windshield and grill were covered in hundreds of love bug carcasses. Soooo - I went to the car wash again in Brenham and cleaned the front of the truck; two miles later, at home, I washed the damn windows again, as the suicidal bugs were out in force. I may go months without washing my truck, but if I’m in the mood, I will have it CLEAN! (postscript...my clean truck is in the driveway and we are getting a thunderstorm...oh well, I tried:)

I’m washing my clothes and restocking my suitcase to head into Houston for my friend Annie’s 65th birthday party. I’ll be spending the night. It should be a fun, couch-potato time with a Mexican dinner out with a group of friends.

I conclude with a salute to gotmoof! Tim, I sat behind a semi-truck full of cattle for a few minutes at a train crossing on the way home. The bumper stickers on the backside of the semi said: “Show Cows on Board”; “Get in, Sit down, Shut up and Hang on!” (kinda makes ya tingly); and finally, “Beef or Chicken?” (The picture on the sticker shows a cow lifting his tail and taking a dump on a crate full of chickens). I thought it was a humorous and perfect representation of my two weeks of shoveling manure!

Here is my horoscope for tomorrow. I don't know what to make of it:)

"Greetings Neil --

Here is your horoscope for Sunday, August 29:

A certain someone who's been admiring you from afar is trying to work up the courage to tell you. Now, this has been weeks in the making, so whether or not you're interested, at least try to act flattered."

Hell, if this was true, I'd be more than flattered, I'd be hollering from the rooftops! It would definitely beat shoveling manure:) Come on, you can tell me......you know you want to...LOL!

Neil,

Sometimes it doesn't pay to wash the car. I have not washed mine in a looooooonnnnngggg time. Fortunately, it's a color that hides dirt fairly well. :-)

Anyhoo, have a good time tonight and Mexican food sounds great.

I agree that I think the Kow would love those stickers you saw on the Semi.

Also, I second the Emotion with BruinWi on the fact that we all are admiring you from afar. :-)

When...
