Too true. I filled up my car last week and nearly had an asthma attack. $52!

It takes $40 to fill up my tank in the Caliber. I had a four door, long bed Dodge truck with a camper cover up till April '04. It got 13 mpg. More luck than foresight, but I got rid of it at the right time.

But you know Robert, even with the Mini and its minitank, 10 gallons will still set you back around $35 for el-cheap'o with no name regular!

Holy moly! Nothing like getting screwed with a sand paper condom! I'm becoming more and more convinced that I do not want an automobile. A bike for commuting is out, the last time was too close for me, and the busses in CoCo Country suck big time, but maybe I can start taking my bicycle to the Bart station? ( I would just have to find a safe route to do it) I can't wait until we move into the city.

That is about what I spend/month, but then I only start up the car a couple of days/week.

I easily spent that in one week! I'm driving about 1600 miles a month. I get reimbursed for about half of that. It's really eating into my budget!

I wish I had that option!

I'm honestly not trying to dig y'all drivers, but I'm so glad I got rid of my car.

We live in town and walk or bus. But I know it's gotta hurt.

When I lived on Mercer Island, I had to drive. But the times I lived in downtown Seattle, I walked or bused everywhere. You're fortunate to have public transportation. I don't have that option and the 800 miles a week I drive for work is really eating into my budget. Trust me, I'd rather do what you are doing!

I got gas to day and $20 used to fill my tank. Today it was a 1/2 a tank.

Hugs!

Same here! Something's gotta change and shouldn't be my budget expanding:) I spend more on gas than groceries ... I spend on gas rather than groceries.

HUGS!

$3.13 per gallon this morning in OKC - cheaper than texas. Another good thing about OK.

On my two driving trips to Minneapolis ('06 and '07), I was surprised to find better fuel prices in OKC than in Texas. Best prices were in Iowa. Though, it's a bit far for me to go to fill up:) Hope you're enjoying your out of town stay.

What I think is interesting is that the cartoon could have been from any number of years in the past 4 decades (with the design of the gas guzzler adjusted)...

...and we still don't get it.

Well, you and I get it, but it's those other fools. ;)

I didn't get it till two years ago; but after parking my four door long bed truck in downtown Seattle (one garage would hold it) and getting 13mpg, I got out just before this climb. So, I was up till recently, a fool:)

HUGS!

Don't we all! I don't think manufacturers or comsumers will really "get it" until the gas price reaches $5.00/gallon. I also think a very effective approach would be for the next administration to put out the word that standards are changing and the only acceptable bids for newly purchased government vehicles/fleets will be hybrids or even better; then put the pressure on for states and cities to adopt the same guidelines .. All police cars, all buses, etc .. must be fuel-efficient. No exceptions!

Glad you got a laugh! Big HUGS!
