I haven't left the house since Monday evening, so wish me well. I haven't been dressed or shaved since then ... seldom been vertical .. I've mostly been horizontal and for no fun reason:) My stomach isn't entirely on board with the decision to leave the confines of the house, but I'm heading to work anyway.

I started feeling better in the middle of the night. I've got my bag of necessities ... bananas, saltine crackers, Pepto, Lysol and an extra pair of briefs. If I negotiate the 40-mile drive without incident/accident, I should make it through the work day. I can then take the weekend to fully recover. *peeking out window* ... Ooooh, it's a big scary world out there ...

Ha! I've got to find an easier weight loss program. I lost 12lbs this week:) I managed to down a bowl of chicken soup with potatoes and carrots in a chicken broth for lunch. He kept me in good shape for the day.

The day did get better!

HUGS!

poor baby! I understand, I've been there, but thankfully the longest I've ever had food-poisoning/stomach virus symptoms has been 24 hours (for the worst of it, at least), but I have been there and understand what you're going through. I wish you all the best for a speedy healing!

TMI:)

This run of the runs was the worst I've experienced, worse than the bout with food poisoning in 1996 that landed me in the hospital, taken on a stretcher out of the theatre in Cincy to ER, very sick in front of the entire cast of Phantom.

How so? Just the duration and frequency. In ER, once I got fluids for deydration, I was pretty much instantly better. This lingered. Thank goodness for my LJ friends this week. Ya'll were my only contact with the outside world, other than my folks who brought me supplies and left them on the porch.

Big HUGS!

Does imodium work for you? If it does, you would not have to worry about detonations from below. Hope it goes well today. I'll be thinking about you.
Very gentle hugs and chicken soup.

No Bombs

I had the chicken soup; I negotiated a very hectic day with two admissions; I've been using Pepto-Bismol, but may give Immodium a try next time. (May there never be a next time this severe:)

Thanks, my friend!

I buy the generic imodium at Walmart. That seems to work better for me than Pepto-Bismol.

Good luck out there. I carry a plastic jug in the car in order to prevent #1 accidents. All best are off on #2. :)

Ick! Sorry you haven't been fully yourself for so long. Hopefully, today will be a better day.

And the world is only scary because it takes itself far too seriously. :-)

You're absolutely right! I think one of the triggers for both of my recent illnesses (other than being exposed to folks we take care of) is stress. I'm in a totally new profession, trying to set world records for performance and speed of mastering a job and the truth is one ill elder sent to the hospital can blow the numbers all to hell. I'm going to be kinder to myself.

HUGS! Hope you had a lovely birthday!

I'm glad you're feeling better! January has been a cruel month for many with respect to colds and flu. Let's hope for a healthier rest of the year!

Thanks! It looks like I wanted to catch everything last month and get it over with. I caught both the upper respiratory crud and the stomach virus. Good thing I had a fly shot! :)

well as Bebe Neuwirth puts it on Broadway's Lost Treasures DVD " Michael Jeter does a life affirming dance"

It is a wonderful sequence in the musical Grand Hotel.

Damn! That did cross my mind, but I'm not real familiar with that score. Just the clips I've seen with Brent Barrett and Michael Jeter and that's been a long time ago. Thanks! Tommy Tune was talking about that on Sirius 77 the other day. Evidently, Michael improvised much of that dance.

Neil - gosh, I didn't realize you had been laid up all week. Have you been to your doc?

Regardless, I hope you continue to feel better!

I didn't go to the doctor, but I spoke with him. He's my best friend from college. He told me what to do and I followed the advice right down the line. On the bright side, I got to post a couple of times, read everyone's posts between runs to the bathroom and I lost 12lbs:)

I am feeling much better! My goal is to be 110% by the time I meet you next weekend!!! YAY!

I'm tired of being sick. Twice in January. I guess it's the same as being a first-year teacher; though in this case, on the other end of the life cycle. One of my favorite little old ladies has it and it's probably where I picked it up. I'm much better now. Thanks!
