Date: 2007-12-08 04:37 pm (UTC)You should be careful not to use your own personal experiences and set of morals and ideals as a weapon to fire against those who feel, and live, differently.
This is no different than saying 'homosexuals are all disgusting'
I was being hard on myself ...

Date: 2007-12-08 05:10 pm (UTC)I've been everywhere I wanted to go in California many times.
So, you've been to the top of Mt. Tam on a clear day, walked along the Sacramento river Delta on a foggy morning, seen Mt. Shasta rising in the distance from over 100 miles away, heard a concert in Berkeley's Greek Theater, had a great steak at "Harris Steak Ranch", gone skiing at Heavenly Valley, walked to Point Bonita light house and have the fog clear while you were there, eaten at Chez Panisse Cafe, had a picnic in Golden Gate Park and then walked to the ocean, ridden the Nevada County Traction Company train, and been to SF for Gay Pride?
And that's just stuff in a small part of Northern CA. I'm sure that the Southern Californians have ideas too (like visiting Manzanar, Death Valley, or Griffith Observatory).

Date: 2007-12-09 04:05 am (UTC)You've quite clearly shown my that my list isn't exhaustive. Maybe, I should just admit, I've been most everywhere I wanted to go, because I'm quite fussy about some things. LOL!
HUGS!

Date: 2007-12-08 06:36 pm (UTC)Bravely spoken ....I understood clearly that you were putting forth your own opinion...about what would work for you... and what makes you feel that way...and not attacking people who think differently about open and closed relationships. And I think I know you well enough to say that you wouldnt intentionally attack such people.

Date: 2007-12-08 06:49 pm (UTC)[I'm at Little Rock airport waiting to get back home ...and practicing using my laptop]
On the controversy over 'open' vs. 'closed'... I've learned to respect everyone's point of view on this. Somewhat to my surprise, my opinion has changed over time...or rather it has opened up to some degree. My ideal would probably be 'monogamous'. But then, life doesn't always offer the range of alternatives one would like, so there's some gambling involved. It's entirely possible to hold out for one's ideal- and never find it. But i don't mean that cynically. In short, I think we all develop a position through experience and do our best to balance what is with what ought to be.
I've missed you ! Hugs!!
I can understand and disagree ... and that's ok ...
Date: 2007-12-09 04:50 am (UTC)I always insisted on an "open" relationship, though my last one turned out to be monogamous. I discovered that I didn't mean it when I said I wanted an open relationship. My sex addiction was very strong ... took me into destructive territory. It's a bunch of crap. It's just an excuse to indulge your excesses. For me, this is true. It's how I feel and it isn't intolerant of anyone else's rules of engagement.
It's interesting. Many LJer's are intolerant of any discussion of religious beliefs ... any mention of them. This is just as judgmental as my statement about relationships. I don't think my point of view is the "right" one; it's simply mine and open to examination. I like to read about others' journeys through life, especially the ones so different from my own. I have friends who are Athiests, Budhists, Pagan, Christian, etc ... I'm fine with people believing what works for them ... But,I am entitled to my opinion too, even if it doesn't align with theirs and it is not an attack.
I live my life as I see fit. I aspire to a certain set of standards and ideals that only apply to me. They are ever evolving and changing, as I age and learn ...
I've missed you too. HUGS!

Funny, the last place I had a romantic time was Seattle 15 months ago.

I know you've taken some heat for this, but I agree with you. If I was in a relationship, I wouldn't want to fool around with anyone else.

Date: 2007-12-10 01:01 am (UTC)I haven't had many relationships. I had one guy who was a prospect, but we broke up when I found out that he wasn't monogamous. That really hurt.
It appears both of us should be looking to the Pacific Northwest for romance:)
The commute from Oklahoma City would be murder! :)
