Tomorrow, my home is officially on the market. As part of the process, my real estate agent, Scott, asked me to create a description of my house for the listing. He called last night to tell me that several of the agents in his Century 21 office really liked it.

Lovely 1925 Bungalow in Historic Downtown Brenham, ready and waiting for just the right person to love. Newly renovated, this 2 bedroom, 1 bath home features high ceilings and unique architecture, such as a “preacher’s door”, amongst its many charms.

Immaculately maintained, this cozy house has a large shaded backyard with mature landscaping. It’s close to Brenham’s Courthouse Square where a welcoming mix of antique stores, art galleries, restaurants and Unity Theatre await. A block from Brenham’s post office, this home would be a wonderful retreat for the discerning buyer who seeks a return to the joys of living in a relaxed, but vibrant community.

Kitchen and bath updates, central air, new carpet for the bedrooms and study, restoration of the hardwood floors in the living and formal dining rooms, and a fresh coat of paint throughout the house, are just a few of its enticing qualities. This home feels open, airy and welcoming. It’s a rare opportunity to purchase history at an affordable cost. It is waiting just for you.

This sounds so good and it is the truth about the house. It almost makes me want to stay ... almost ... I have mixed feelings about selling, but not about moving. I've decided that my motto for the remainder of this year and into next will be, "It's about me! It's about time!". LOL!

One final thing ... I decided to do a bit of trimming to my friends list here on Live Journal. I haven't eliminated anyone whom I have personally met. I only dropped the folks who haven't posted or commented in any way in the past several months. If I have made a mistake, please let me know.

I think you really hit the nail on the head with the description. Here's to hoping for a quick sell!!!

Thanks! You've seen the house, so I'm glad you think I've been accurate. I've made several decor changes since you were here, but all in the way of editing and refining what I started. Fingers crossed for a quick sale!

HUGS!

"preacher's door"

is that in the floor by any chance?

LOL! No, but it should be! :) A "preacher's door" was a second entrance to a house which allowed visiting/traveling preachers to stay with a family without having to mix with them. The wall inside my house has now been filled in and the door is there only for decorative/historical purposes. I think the more compelling architectural features are the roof line, the arched entrances and the screens (which are original to the house.

Quite a listing. Are they staging it for you?

If you saw my home ... and if you were one of the people who'vee known me for a long time, you'd know that I live as if my house was staged:) I like things beautifully done and immaculately kept. I think it comes from years of living in hotels:) WIsh you could have seen this space before it's all gone ...

HUGS!

It's an idea! Though Roger's not my type, I do have a lot of friends who would pay to see him ... who really think he's hot:)

If I need helping staging the house, it's with the outside, as I'm not a yard kind of guy. I want to twitch my nose and have every part of the landscaping be perfect. LOL!

Roger lives in Amsterdam now, with his partner... He's too expensive for you anyhow!

Your house is probably immaculate enough to sell.

Off-topic ... I picked up the phone and called [livejournal.com profile] becker_boy a couple of days ago. Haven't heard back from him yet. I'm looking forward to chatting with Steve soon.

Hugs!

Further off-topic. We're going down to Portland this weekend. Any restaurant or sight suggestions?
From: [identity profile] mrdreamjeans.livejournal.com
There are two sites that come to mind ... There is a lovely Japanese Garden in Portland. It's at high elevation in the city's main park. Wonderful vistas! They also have lovely rose gardens in the park, but I suspect it's a bit late in the season for the roses. Powell Books downtown is a one-of-a-kind experience for people who love books. They bar area of town can be fun. I can't think of any dining experiences in Portland that stand out, but the last time I spent significant time on tour there was 10 years ago with "Phantom".

If you have time, the Columbia River Gorge and the scenic highway that meanders along the skyline is striking. The Falls are really nice and there's a state park (can't remember the name) with a very interesting nude beach:)

Have fun! HUGS!

Several changes are happening within my family. I've decided that I've made all of my decisions in the past 16 months based on what others (especially my family) need from me, rather than what I need to be happy. I am vigorously pursuing work away from Texas, focusing on Minneapolis/St Paul ... Seattle ... well, anywhere I can land a great job with benefits .. I also want the new location to have a strong and vibrant theatre community and a four-season climate. To that end, I've put my house (which I've been in just 6 months) on the market. I'm not happy and I am not settling any more.

HUGS!

That sounds like my life ...with he exception of my hubby...I am surrounded by family..and a few friends...who can't seem to survive unless I get involved in their lives

Today, (Typical day) I arranged for a phone at my daughters new house, topped up her cell phone ...lent them some money to get their car fixed...agreed to mind the kids this weekend...etc etc..and that's just today

My sister's informal mediation for her divorce is tomorrow ... My brother's house purchase in Central Texas fell through yesterday and he and my sister in law are looking for another property ... My mom needed my help with her garden ... I could fill up all of my time helping out (which I really don't mind), but it isn't getting me any closer to fulfilling my goals. Dad's health isn't going to get better and I don't think I should give up my life to take care of my folks like I did last year ... if I can get back to what brings me joy and fulfilment, I'll have the emotional and financial means to be more effective in helping everyone.

You are so lucky that you have Pete ... and he is lucky to have you loving him.

Re: You are so lucky that you have Pete

As you know...I count my blessing in this area...often
As far as helping family...

This keeps me going:

..."Hell is not fire and brimstone. Hell, is when you come to the end of your days, and you realize you could have made a difference in the lives of those you love...but you didn't..and now its too late"
("When Bad Things Happen To Good People"...Harold Kushner)

It may not apply to you and your situation......but, in my situation... it haunts me...("At the moment that they needed me...did I turn and go away")

I understand .... I've never turned my back ... I'm always there for others, but sometimes to my own detriment. I am trying to achieve balance and be as kind to myself as I am to others. I have made a difference in the lives of those I love ... and I know you have too ...

HUGS!

Wow, can I hold on to your coattails for a bit? I need that kind of positive energy. *smiles*

I would hope you'd end up in Mpls/St. Paul. It is truly God's country. At this point, I don't think I'll give up living in, or around, Sioux Falls, but if I were to move? It would be to the Cities.

Yay for your new, bold move. I'm glad I didn't get moved out of your friends. I do enjoy your entries.

Oh yes, what kind of job are you looking for? I assume it's the theatre.

Theatre or writing are my preferences, but a job that pays well and has benefits ... a means to an end ... will make me happy if it's where I want to live.

Hey, Anthony! I appreciate the "best of luck" wishes ... However, the house I am selling is the "new" house. Lots of risk and change happening ... but it's for the best.

Hope you are doing well!

It's a delightful and knowingly written ad ... happy fishing ! I was amused that you hate to give it up now that you've summed up the joys of the house, and selfishly sorry I'll not get a chance to see it in person.
But onward ! Good new motto you've got there. It's about outlook... after all, you are the star of your own life (and a star to a lot of us anyway). Wishing you luck and encouragement as you proceed.
Give my regards to Alice Faye! Hugs!!

Onward and upward! HUGS!
