This post could easily be called "Stars on the Ceiling, Part II". I'm once again at my sister's home in the Austin area, having been here since Friday. My parents and I came over to view a new teaching technique for my nephew. We sat in a room watching Ross(via television) work with a teacher who tackled subjects like math and science through a rapid-response technique. Even though he was "stemming" throughout the session, he answered all of her questions correctly. She would pose a question, then tear up pieces of paper, write four choices, repeat the question and Ross would point. It was touching, heart-breaking and amazing all in the same moment. Who knows what intelligence is trapped and lurking behind those eyes.

I've not stopped for two days. On Saturday, Colleen asked if we would help her tackle painting her living room. Though Sis and I are novice house painters, we pushed on. For six hours on Saturday, we painted the textured walls Garden Gazebo:), (a light green with a touch of blue) Today, we taped off and painted baseboards, door frames and window sills. I spent the entire afternoon laying on my side, sliding a piece of cardboard along the baseboard to paint it Antique White, trying my best to keep paint off the carpet. It is a large room with four windows and four doorways, but I have to say, it looks terrific and we did a good job!

In addition, my mother organized Colleen's pantry and every single cupboard and drawer in her kitchen, she reorganized the laundry room; Dad and she took down the screens and cleaned the porch and windows on the outside. I organized my nephew's medical and educational records for the years 1996-2001. They are now clearly labeled and in clear boxes for easy access.

Tonight, we put the room back together; I put the artwork back up on the walls and we put up new deep green draperies. I just finished vacuuming the floors and am finishing up my laundry (got a bit of paint on me:) I leave about 10am in the morning, flying from Austin to Hartford via Dallas. I'll get in about 5pm and drive with a company member to our hotel in New Haven. We have a rehearsal on Tuesday afternoon and open that night in Wallingford.

I know the events I'm posting about are mundane, but that was my weekend... lots of hard work. Going back to the show will seem like a vacation:) I needed to record that I actually painted and performed house maintenance. My long time friends won't believe it otherwise. I'm the creative one:) I saw the last nine seconds of the Super Bowl. Probably enough....The Patriots won! (yawn:) LOL! Wish me an uneventful trip to Connecticut!
