Editorial cartoon borrowed from the Washington Post by the Houston Chronicle......

The cartoon depicts a man napping on his couch; he is awakened by an announcement on his television, causing him to turn his head around (his body remains facing the back of the couch).

TV announcer - "The administration is pointing with some satisfaction today that the U.S. economy has just created the job you lost three-and-a-half years ago......." HA!

Tagline - "At a more efficient lower value....."

I laughed and then realized that the cartoon was clever and on the mark, but not funny. It's too true. I've known all too many folks, single and with families, to which this has happened.

Last time we had such bad economic policies in place (particularly selective tax cuts), was during the 1980s. Reagan was in office. Do we really need to continue this focus on the financial bottomline of corporations at the expense of the American workforce?

Bush-league misuse of statistics.....oh well......

A tip of my straw cowboy hat to the cartoonist who hit the bullseye with this one!

You know, I've been telling friends that I feel like I'm living in the 80's again. They all think I'm crazy. And some of them tell me the 80s were great. Huh? The only thing good about the 80's was the music. Even the clothes and hair were bad! Of course, I wish I had my hair back, but I digress....

"I wish I had my hair back". Me too, but now's it's back hair:)

The political climate today is quite reminiscent of the mid-80s in feeling and consequences. Indeed and in deed, some of the same people are currently pulling the strings to the Shrub puppet.

For some of the folks we speak with, the 80s are a history lesson, they weren't there or were not paying attention:) Remember, In some places in the South, they teach that the Holocaust was a myth and the Civil War was the War of Northern Aggression:)

I applaud your sense of economic right and wrong. We are all patriots, good Americans, when we speak out against policies and decisions by our government that we disagree with. As you well know - it is called Freedom of Speech.
