Keeping Up

I've gone back 200 posts today in my reading and still haven't reached the posts I read on Saturday morning. No matter how much I try, I can't seem to keep up right now with reading all of my friends' daily posts. On my rare down days, I wonder if anyone is reading what I've written and then I realize how silly I'm being; if I can't keep up the pace, it's not reasonable to expect others to. However - even if I don't comment, I am reading your words as much as possible.

Face it ... We all have lives and much of that life (outside of the theater world in which I was so involved and will be in the future) happens for me on the weekends. I find I don't want to be in front of a computer screen now that it's my part of my daily work. If I've missed something key that any of you have written, please let me know and I'll go to your journal directly and read away. What you have to say is important to me.

For my two cents worth, it's no big deal. Of course we'd love to be on top of everything but life has a way of interfering and putting priorities on us. There wil be times when you just want to shut yourself off away from the world - maybe it's required in order for you to catch a breath, and others when you just want to jump in and swim around in life, the universe and just well, everything really. Good friends understand this and will get you up to speed when you next make contact.

So, relax, get yourself a cup of (insert preferred beverage here), and when we come back from the break......

Thanks for the practical advice. I don't worry about it often .. Just on those days when my theater life seems to be drifting farther and farther away. I'm delighted to hear from you!

HUGS!

I know just what you mean. I go back sometimes and am like there is no way I'll ever be able to catch up. I try, but I'm sure I've missed a few things along the way.

I usually miss posts written over the weekend. I've gotten where I seldom write then too. Be assured, I always read your posts. Otherwise, I wouuldn't have a vicarious social life. *grin* You're my "bear in the big city" reporter:)

Aww I have a new nickname LOL
Well one of these weekends you need to come down to experience that social life for yourself.

One problem with this "broadcast to the world" mechanism is that people don't always have the time to keep up with stuff. I think that many bloggers forget that, and think that posting something in their blog absolves them of actually communicating directly with their friends.

Definitely set your own priorities, and don't get sucked in to spending time sitting in front of a computer if that isn't where you want to be!

I'm all about communication and will always pick up the phone first; but there are some folks that are friends here and in real life with whom I so look forward to interacting. Distance seems bridged when we check in with each other on LJ; I don't feel as isolated. As in all things, I seek balance and so your advice is sound and welcomed. HUGS!

Its just not possible to read everything and everyone

I know you're right. The only time I get troubled by it is when being based in a small town gets to me ... It's when I am most missing being out on tour or performing. I know I'll be back on the boards again ... but sometimes, it feels further away from attainment than at other times. It's one of the reasons I love reading about your creative projects.

In case you were wondering where I'd been, I've actually updated as of last Friday. HOpefully I won't make it another month before I post again :)

I always look forward to reading your posts. My friend [livejournal.com profile] elfkat and you are very special to me as you are the only women on my friends list and I value having your perspective and insights on all topics! HUGS!

No problem. I've now missed a week's worth but am back into it myself. I just like hearing that people are reading even if they're not commenting!

Now you know how the rest of us feel! And now you'll believe me when I tell you that I read your journal far more often than I comment in it. Sometimes you just have time for one but not the other... and I'm not usually one to just leave a comment for the sake of leaving a comment; I only post when I really have something to say (even if it's a snarky joke or something like that).

Hugs!

I'm glad to know you read my journal often. I wrote a post the other day, sort of targeted at you and my musician friends ... I'll just ask the question here ... What songs do you remember playing in Junior High Marching Band ... over and over ... which were a night mare? :)

This is exactly how I feel about LifeJournal. It's impossible for me to keep up with everyone, and even more so, it's sometimes hard for me to post because I write for a living. And, as I said in a recent post of mine, sometimes I just hermitize because I think people just don't care. I'm trying to break that malicious thought.

We care ... I'm glad you fight to break the malicious thought ... I have the same one from time to time ... May we always be victorious ...

Indeed! I'm definitely not on the A-list, but I really don't care anymore. My life is what it is, and in in the grand scheme of things, I really don't think it's been all that bad. Thank you for your support my friend. HUGS

We'll have to discuss more about your work as a writer. I'd love to hear about it! Also ... I don't susbcribe to an "A-List". My A-List is composed of the men and women who I enjoy .. smart, funny, kind, comfortable in their own skins. All the other stuff ...party invitations, gossip, competition, being seen with the right people ...is amusing. What a waste of time.I left worrying about that behind in high school. Your life is exactly what you make of it and by everything I've read, yours is a very full life indeed! HUGS!

I've had to come to this realization, and being that rejection was a large part of my life, I have some challenges. You're absolutely right though. It's time to forge my own way-- not that I haven't done that already, but I need to just get more comfortable with it.

Feel free to call me or e-mail me about writing. I'll share what I know.

I always read what you post, Neil....

It helps, of course, that I only have a dozen or so people on my friends' list...

Even so, if I skip a few days in reading them (which I've been doing lately) the posts pile up...
