My move-in begins tomorrow! I found this 1920s bungalow about a week ago. It had been "for sale" only; but the owner, a real estate agent, has agreed to rent the property to me for $700/month with an option to buy (which I have already decided to do). It's 1150 square feet; 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, 14 ft ceilings, with several of the original architectural elements intact.

The hard wood floors have been refinished; the kitchen tile updated; the bath completely renovated; there is new carpet in the bedrooms and office; the electrical has been updated and new central air and heat installed. The paint inside and out is new. The house is a block off of Brenham's Courthouse Square, a block from the post office and my bank. It's in a neighborhood of historic homes and is exactly what I've always wanted ... an older home with most of the work to update it done already. *grin* I think I'm gonna like it there! Kudos to [livejournal.com profile] gotmoof for the splendid layout. Thanks, Tim!

Like puppies! When I purchase the house, I plan to enclose the backyard so that I can have my own puppy ..perhaps, a golden retriever or Welsh Springer Spaniel.

ps... I look forward to more pictures of the pagerpad when it's completed. YAY!

HUGS!

It's cream, baby, cream ... not yellow:) All I can say is ... "I think I'm gonna like it here!" or better yet ... (((Singing))) ... "The sun'll come out tomorrow ... Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, there'll be sun ..."
At least here in Texas where it's expected to be 73 degrees today. Did I mention that? :)

I think I'm going to use it more as an art gallery. It's also the logical place to begin an expansion. If I wind up in the house long term, I may take the window out and turn it into a hallway to a new bedroom and bath. Just sayin' :)

just like that picture of you as a kid with your family in front of the house, where all ya'll clothes matched the siding and trim, on this one even the window shutters' color sorta matches the Caliber's...

that is quite a find, WOW! congrats :>

Thanks, Fernando! Come to think of it, it does resemble my Grandma Badders' house in the family pictures I posted of my sister and I as toddlers. Though the family home was two-story. Hope things are going well for you and that you can make time to come see the house when you're in Houston/Katy in April and May. I'm counting on it!

Thanks, my friend!

Knowing your skills and interest, I'll soon post a picture of an afgan that a lady in Brenham made for me. At my request, it's fits a double bed. All bright colored squares within squares tied together by black knitted by hand. Very striking!

I"ve always wanted to do something like that ... gather my live journal friends together so they can meet. The preponderance of the friends I have met live in five areas ... Minneapolis/Madison, San Francisco, New York, Seattle and Houston ... As groups, they are very different ... I think it would be mucho fun for everyone to know everyone else.

What a great little bungalow! When you described it to me it sounded so similar to mine, but in reality they look nothing alike. I can't get over the screens...never seen anything like them! I am now drooling over your floors...mine could stand a visit from your refinishing fairy. I'm sure you'll love it and can't wait to come visit after it is filled with all your treasures. Congrats!

There's going to have to be screen repairs, but you are correct, they are unique! They did a wonderful job on the floors. I'm sure you'll be one of the first of my friends to visit! YAY! HUGS!

I"ve never seen the magazine, but I've read its cottage equivalent. As to owning your own bungalow, never say never! If you set it as a goal, you can plan and make it a dream come true! HUGS!

Thanks, my friend! I don't have a list, though it is sweet of you to ask:) It's voyage of discovery as I haven't been through most of the boxes from storage in the three years they've been there:) My nephews Ryan and Brennan have both come home from college this weekend to help their uncle move some of the big items. Today's the busy day. I've been making trips every night since Wednesday, carrying what I can. I'll most likely have to leave most of my boxes of books, music and framed photos (table size) in storage. It's a work in progress! Hope Chicago went well! Big HUGS!
