I'm spending yet another Saturday night at the home of my folks, hibernating from Dad. Let's just say he's had another bad day and leave it at that. Maybe I'm learning to appreciate small pleasures more, but I actually don't mind nesting tonight. I haven't been out to a bar or to an event with my bear friends since October in Minneapolis and I just can't seen to get enthused about driving to Houston to go out, so I crawled into bed early and settled down for a night of television.

Bless the satellite dish! Regular TV sucked, but I found some fun things to watch on Bravo and A&E. Two of my favorite movies were on back-to-back. First up was "Legally Blonde" and then "The Princess Bride"! YAY! Later on the Texas A&M basketball team defeated Kansas for the first time in school history 69-66! The nationally televised game was A&M's first victory over a Top 10 team evah!!! Then, I tuned into a tasteful reveal of yet another one of Candice Olsen's Divine Designs:) You might say I have eclectic tastes.

Next week at this time, all will be different. I found a house in Brenham and will be moving in next Saturday ... a cozy space all to myself. Pictures and details to follow ...

on a random note...the head usher at Avenue Q (where i used to work) is a former female wrestler. and she used to date Andre the Giant, who played Fezzik. and, i'm not gonna lie, every time i see her, i giggle a little...

I was gonna bitch about my saturday night.......

but Andre the Giant stories are WAY more fun! I work, from time to time with Andre's ex/widow, (they were divorced by the time he died) who was also a wrestler. I think she's still refered to in the wrestling world as, "The Mother"!

Neil, you may know her too....dresser here, named Jean? About 6', red hair, never stops talking? Phenomenal bead-work!

I have worked with her, but didn't know that! YAY! :)
From: [identity profile] bearhedded.livejournal.com
oh, yeah! She brought 1 of his jackets in, during "42nd Street"! Pat Sullivan (played Julian Marsh) was a big fan!

As you should ... [livejournal.com profile] bearhedded knows his ex-wife in Seattle. She was also a wrestler, befor becoming a dresser:)

I really enjoyed it. It's definitely light fluff, but it's fun. I especially loved the idea of using some of the sorority sisters as a "greek chorus"!

I look forward to seeing it as a stage musical. I've heard mostly good things about it from my SF friends and now we have your positive review. Thanks!

Princess Bride is one of my all-time favorites, especially because it has a booted Cary Elwes and Mandy Patankin. I could have watched it too, but I opted for the internet instead. Besides, I just couldn't take hearing "Inconceivable!" for the umpteenth time.

Congratulations on finding a new home!

Wow! a great double feature. Two of my favorites. I am amazed that Christopher Guest is such a performer that you sometimes don't recognize him.

Home and hearth are good things. Sorry I can't be there to help with those heavy items that need an extra hand.

I didn't recognize him till the credits!

You may not be here to help me move in, but you're certainly invited to visit once I'm settled!

HUGS!

Can't recall seeing him, but I'm guessing he played the bad-guy prince, eh?

Chris Sarandon played the prince. Guest was the evil sidekick who created the torture machine and was writing a book about the experience:)

I remember the character, but can't "see" the face. I've always wondered, is Chris Sarandon any relation to Susan Sarandon?

It is FREAKIN' COLD today!

Just wanted to share...

Wowsers! I just read a book by a couple of Hollywood casting directors--tho the name escapes me at the moment (come back little name, come back!)--who did the casting for The Princess Bride. They wrote about how hard it was getting the right kind of giant & princess.

Congrats on the new casa!

I can understand ... How many times do we look for a giant and wind up with a princess? *grin*

Boy-howdy did you ever get that it one.

So, whaddja think of the game last night. (Which, as I think on it, is the first time I've ever asked that.)

My team won, so that was nice! As a drum major in high school, I marched in all kinds of bad weather, so I felt for the entertainers in the rain. It must have been miserable.

On the other hand, there's nothing better than football players drenched to the skin to the point that their jocks show through their white uniform pants. All in all, I say bring on the deluge and give me some football! :) Jocks in jocks!

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Also started giggling about Colt (Studio) playing Bears.

STILL freakin' cold.

Forgot to mention how Sue and I fell out in hysterics when the commentators started riffing on the art of "tending balls".

Two good movies and a good design show. As for the sports, I leave that to those who truly enjoy them.

Congrats on the new digs and I think we ALL are looking forward to the pictures.

Thanks! I'll be posting them just as soon as I'm certain that I've got the place. The day I signed lease papers, they got two offers on the property, so I'm working out some wrinkles.

HUGS!
