I just got contacted by the general manager of the new National Tour of "Evita" with details of my contract offer. The "Evita" Tour begins rehearsals in NYC on October 4 and opens in Boston on Election Day (November 2). My contract will run through January 1, 2006. Despite, the concessions Actors Equity (my union), agreed to for this production, it is a contract that I can live with; indeed, I am excited about traveling about the country for another year:)

I asked the GM for cities we might be playing. The itinerary is still being put together and will change, but some of the cities we will be going to include: Boston - 2 weeks; Chicago - 2 weeks; SF - 4 weeks; Sarasota, FL; Appleton, WI (yes - really:); Chattanooga, TN; Ft Myers, FL; Spokane, WA (but not Seattle at this time, darnnit!); Milwaukee, WI; Dallas; Washington, DC; Greenville, SC, Toronto and maybe Baltimore. Las Vegas, Houston, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are possibilities.

I just checked my notes. Also penciled in on the itinerary are: Detroit - 2 weeks; Wallingford, CT; Richmond, VA and Norfolk, VA; Cleveland, OH and Atlanta, GA. I forgot to ask about Minneapolis/St Paul. I need to do that! Personally, I hope Costa Mesa, San Diego and Indianapolis make it on the schedule. I've always had a good time in these cities.

Well - I wrote a grumpy post a couple of hours ago. I still feel ill, but at least some of what's been bothering me has eased up.

Good

Glad to know things are a little better for you Neil.

I say Damn about Seattle too, but with Spokane being on the list, I can probably make that one as it's only 3-5 drive from Seattle at best if I'm not mistaken so we could have a slight chance of hooking up for a show then if need be.

I'm glad to know you finally got the particulars on the contract and when you'll be starting and that it's for a year. Way to go.

Just keep us abreast of any changes that may transpire with the itenary so we all can plan accordingly.

Take care and I hope you feel better by tomorrow.

You're booked in Appleton, Milwaukee, but NOT Madison...with our brand-spanking new Overture Center opening in September??

APPLETON???

OK...The Bright Lady KNOWS they're desparate for some culture, but JEEZ!

On top of that, you're coming back to Milwaukee after playing in Tennessee, Florida and Washington state...who set UP this itinerary??

Well, you'll be getting the travel you enjoy so much.

Evita's a great show! Enjoy yourself thoroughly.

Congratulations! Perhaps you'll pass through Columbus. If not, we'll have to come see you in Cincinnati.

Appleton? day-um.

I still think they should have started touring this show last spring, because of it political themes I think it would do better with the interest in politics this year.

Heh. Glad to hear they finally got ahold of you.

I agree

I agree Tim, but 2005 is the 25th anniversary of the show opening in NYC, so I think that will be the marketing angle. We will open on Election evening though:)

I've played Green Bay, but Appleton? I asked her to repeat it since I was sure I had heard wrong:) Maybe we will get to Madison. They will be sending me an intinerary closer to the beginning of the tour.

Regardless, Milwaukee is on there and Chicago. We'll have some fun:)! And, yes, dear friend... I will be in NYC for your next birthday, just like I was when you celebrated your 25th. Can you spell, "Wicked"? LOL!

Don't worry. I am so busy in the show between the work onstage and the 16 costume changes, that you will be hollering..."Not him again!" LOL!

YAAAY!!

Congrats!

I'll be sure to see you in Ballimer or DC. What role do you have? I'm having trouble picturing you in the Dior gown, but then again, I don't know you that well....

How Cool!

I'm John from New York - a friend of mine got cast on that show so I'm sure you'll be seeing him (Joel Briel). It'd be great to get to see the show maybe when it's in CT or some other place close.

Ciao!

You neglected to mention that Hal Prince is directing the tour. I read the announcement on the Boston Herald web site. That's fantastic!!

Technically, my understanding is that Larry Fuller is directing and choreographing and Hal is "supervising" the production. So - We'll see.....Regardless, I have a long history with this show and love doing it. I do several small features in the show, mostly the high tenor, character parts. It will be great to visit the old girl:)

Came across your LJ via friend...etc. Oddly enough, I play trombone for a small community theatre group here in upstate NY and we were tentatively going to do that show last year, but the powers that be opted out of it. I never did hear exactly why. I read thru the locations. I noticed Toronto on the list, but was hoping to see Montreal. Darn!!

List is Tenative

Howdy! I wrote the list from my scribble of notes. I don't have a complete listing, nor is what I wrote a specific order. We are playing a split week in December and one of the cities in that week is Schenectady. Maybe that's close to you. It's an odd week...we play Schenectady for part of a week and then Sarasota.....very odd...LOL!

I played trombone from 5th grade through my Freshman year in college:) If we come anywhere near you, you should say hello!

Schenectady is getting warm...warmer anyway...That's about 2 1/2hrs away. That does sound weird...NY then FL...whoa nellie. And that's a given. I'd love to see the show. Any website I can check out for dates/times? If close enough, I could possibly make a weekend roadtrip out of it. And the trombone is merely a hobby of mine,,currently in a brass quintet year round, and a summer community concert band, although I'm covering tuba this summer due to lack of one.
