You often hear the phrase "six degrees of separation". [livejournal.com profile] designerotter and I just discovered that we embody that and more. I've been chatting with Joe ever since he joined Live Journal a couple of months ago. Our commonality of theater as a career has resulted in numerous chats and a friendship. We took that to the next level by meeting in person last week. When I visited Joe last Monday, I left a resume with him. (I'm interested in working as a guest artist at the University of Wisconsin in a production of "Urinetown". Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Joe said he'd give the resume to the appropriate people.)

Today, I got an email from Joe about an entry on my resume. In 1985, he designed a production of "Sweet Charity" for the Carousel Dinner Theatre in Ravenna, Ohio. The theatre has since relocated to Kent.. Joe innocently asked if that might be the production which I had listed. Yep! I played Herman in "Sweet Charity", singing "I Love to Cry at Weddings" in a 1985 production directed by Joey Patton. Same show, same production ... and we were both there:) Is that "six degrees" or less? LOL! Joe is now combing through his production slides to see if he has pictures of me as the dance hall owner ... mustache and cigar intact:) We may have met 20 years ago!

On a separate note ... Joe should be held on a pedastal for getting an autograph for me from the legend of a singer, Barbara Cook. YAY! Thanks again, Joe!

Awww, tweren't nuthin'...[blush].
BTW, you picked the perfect music to accompany your post !

There'a another LJ coincidence I bumped into recently: Did you happen to notice that [livejournal.com profile] bearhedded, one of the new friends you've recently introduced me to, asked when I graduated from Temple U.? Seems we both went to the same graduate school, though he gradauted six years after I did. He mentioned classmates of mine I had lost track of ... except for costume wizards Sam and Frankie - and you know those delightful folks as well. He tells me further that because of our mutual school acquainances he'd already heard of me - apparently there are stories out there(Oy!)

That is so cool! I love discovering connections like that! Perhaps someday you and I will discover that we met once before, in some really freakishly out-of-the-way place. Though you and I also know we would probably have remembered each other. ;-)

Urinetown, eh? Officer Lockstock? (You're too young for Cladwell... aren't you?) ;-)

You know Jonathan, the karaoke host? Well, a year after I met him, I was doing a singing valentine's thing at work and met a lovely woman named Kat. We struck up a friendship and it was only six months later that I found out that Jonathan and Kat were brother and sister. It made all of her comments about her brother who ran karaoke make sense.

By the way, Nicole Boote says HI!
