Everyone in the [livejournal.com profile] perkk household returned to their normal schedule after a busy weekend of events. [livejournal.com profile] gotmoof and I had lunch yesterday before I drove him to work; I wanted to see the Target where Tim works (the largest I've ever seen). It's nice to place your friends in the workplace ... to be able to visualize the setting when they share stories of their work day. After dropping Tim off, I followed a map he had drawn for me and found the Mall of America. I am now in possession of wonderful photos from this past weekend's events, my main task for the day:)

The highlight of my day happened at the mall. When I entered the MOA near Bloomingdales, I looked down a level and saw that there was a book- signing in progress. Elisabeth Edwards is the wife of North Carolina senator John Edwards and has written an inspirational book called "Saving Graces". My folks and I watched Ms Edwards and her family's recent appearance on "Oprah" and were impressed by her message. (The Edwards family had gone through the death of their teenage son in a car accident and Ms Edwards' diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer.) I bought her book, stood in line and had it autographed for my mother. Ms Edwards chatted with me for a few minutes ... was empathetic ... warm ... charming.

After dinner with [livejournal.com profile] perkk and [livejournal.com profile] sethlan, tasty pizza, (Thanks John for treating [livejournal.com profile] perkk and me), I watched a bit of television and headed back to Plymouth to pick up Tim at work. He was finished about 11:15pm and then had to open this morning. Everyone's out and about now, off to work. I'm luxuriating in just being lazy ... I slept in ... watched the morning programs ... I have no agenda. Just what the doctor ordered:)

It may not have been the best financial move, but it certainly has been the right thing to do for my peace of mind. HUGS!

I cannot fathom going into the Mall of America. Waaaaaaaaay too large for my liking and too many people. I have seen some amazing documentaries about the place though. I am so glad that you are enjoying yourself. We do not spend so much time on this earth to waste it with unhappy moments.

Big hugs from the left coast.

The Monstrosity of America to Minnesotans is sort of like what Fisherman's Wharf is to San Franciscans: The locals say they avoid it like the plague, but they can be seen there.

It's not too crowded during a weekday or weeknight. Even so, when all is said and done, there's really nothing special about it.

I get really uncomfortable going into our local malls, such as Sun Valley in Contra Costa County where I live. I would probably feel like a turtle on a race track in that place. However, if I were a mall shopper, it would probably be as close to heaven as one could get!

Slight correction: Monstrosity of Consumerism.

There are two things I like going there for; the Apple store and the AMC theatre.

The occasional eyecandy is a bonus.

I use Ritz Camera to get prints of the pictures I take, so Tim and I went there Saturday afternoon. I didn't enjoy it. However, yesterday on a lazy Monday afternoon with wet, gloomy weather, it was actually pleasant ... and if nothing else, good exercise because it is so vast.

HUGS!

She's one of my favourite Turkish singers - Bulent Ersoy. Born a male (surprise surprise) but had the op years ago and now looks, well, let's say this is a toned down pic ;-)

Yay for time with no agenda!

Enjoy!

[PS - if you get bored, give me a call (612-720-9352) and I might be able to get you a tour of CTC. Not that it would be exciting, but it might prevent boredom ;) ]

Leisure is the ultimate American luxury, darling. Are you wearing your sable while you're luxuriating? It is the place and time, you know?

I hope so! Got to remember ... or else the real Neil may be gone with the wind ... Thanks! A trip like this gives me perspective that the recent events are a small part of my overall life and that I will move forward ... HUGS!
