Personality Report
Sep. 2nd, 2006 11:03 amI like taking these kinds of tests:) I quickly answered the questions so I wouldn't be tempted to manipulate the information. The full report doesn't appear here, but the summaries of the different categories were surprisingly on target. Consequently ...and because my results were so different from the others I've seen posted on LJ ... here are my percentages:)

Date: 2006-09-02 04:59 pm (UTC)It was dead on the money.
Didn't paint a pretty picture, so I'll skip posting it, except to say I'm just plain neurotic.

Date: 2006-09-03 04:52 am (UTC)A while after I submitted my post, it occurred to me that tests like this generally separate the results into two categories:
1. How one perceives oneself to be, and
2. How others perceive the one taking the test to be.
This implies that the answers to these two questions can be entirely different. The distinction that there may be a difference was nowhere to be found in the "answers" to this test.
The question of how one perceives others to think him to be, well, in my opinion, should never be a part of the results...
Again, thanks for your words here.....

Date: 2006-09-03 02:40 pm (UTC)Overall summary - You are sociable, outgoing, energetic, and lively. You prefer to be around people much of the time. You are generally calm and composed, reacting moderately well to situations that most people would describe as stressful. Novelty, variety, and change spice up your life and make you a curious, imaginative, and creative person. You have a strong interest in others' needs and well-being. You are pleasant, sympathetic, and cooperative. You set clear goals and pursue them with determination. People regard you as reliable and hard-working.
Neuroticism - You are generally calm and composed, reacting moderately well to situations that most people would describe as stressful. You are generally calm, although some situations can make you feel anxious or tense. You rarely get angry and it takes a lot to make you angry. You very rarely feel depressed and are usually in a good frame of mind. You do not feel nervous in social situations, and have a good impression of what others think of you. You do not experience strong, irresistible cravings and consequently do not find yourself tempted to overindulge. High levels of stress can lead to you feeling panic or confusion, but usually you cope with day to day pressures.
Openness To Experience Novelty, variety, and change spice up your life and make you a curious, imaginative, and creative person. Often you find the real world is too plain and ordinary for your liking, and you use fantasy as a way of creating a richer, more interesting world for yourself. You love beauty, both in art and in nature. Sometimes you become easily involved and absorbed in artistic and natural events. You have good access to and awareness of your own feelings. You are eager to try new activities, travel to foreign lands, and experience different things. You find familiarity and routine boring, and will take a new route home just because it is different. You enjoy a certain amount of debate or intellectual thought, but sometimes get bored with too much. Often you exhibit a readiness to challenge authority, convention, and traditional values. Sometimes you feel a certain degree of hostility toward rules and perhaps even enjoy ambiguity.
Agreeableness - You have a strong interest in others' needs and well-being. You are pleasant, sympathetic, and cooperative. You naturally assume that most people are fair, honest, and have good intentions. You see no need for pretense or manipulation when dealing with others and are therefore candid, frank and sincere. People find it relatively easy to relate to you. You find helping other people genuinely rewarding and are generally willing to assist those who are in need. You find that doing things for others is a form of self-fulfillment rather than self-sacrifice.
Conscientiousness - You set clear goals and pursue them with determination. People regard you as reliable and hard-working. You believe that you have the intelligence, common sense, drive, and self-control necessary for achieving success. You are well-organized and like to live according to routines and schedules. Often you will keep lists and make plans. You have a strong sense of duty and obligation, and feel a moral obligation to do the right thing. Mostly you work towards achieving your best, although in some areas you are content just to get the job done. You have strong will-power and are able to overcome your reluctance to begin tasks. You are able to stay on track despite distractions.
To my thinking these summaries, while broad in nature, are good indicators of the truth as I know it about myself. I'm curious now ... Do you think I'm pulling the wool over my own eyes? *grin* HUGS!

Date: 2006-09-03 06:17 pm (UTC)I few these self-assessment memes with the same level of skepticism. Fun, perhaps, but clinically meaningless.

Date: 2006-09-03 03:49 am (UTC)What I had hoped for and what I got, while not totally far apart, neverthless indicated some things I was less than charmed with.... of course it may be the truth - and tests like this, unlike horoscopes, are not necessarily designed to make us feel self-congratulatory.
According to the test I'm considerably more neurotic than I think (53), though also more extraverted than I think (61). I am reasonably agreeable and extremely open to new experience. But I was hoping to seem more conscientious (a disappointing 40)... ah, but if I were indeed more conscientious I'd have ignored taking the test and attended to all the homework curently on my plate.
The detailed commentary semed very much on the money - yup, I'm not depressed, am very cheerful and trusting, and tend to liberalism. But it did note that I "tend not to talk much." A number of my friends would keel over laughing at that one ... and I can just imagine the guffaws from my students - LOL

Date: 2006-09-04 12:46 am (UTC)You are a strong reminder that no group should be pigeon-holed into any particular set of assumed characteristics. In my line of work I've met any number of actors who were clearly neurotic or at least rather needy in terms of self-esteem. Obviously you're a different brand of thesp, and I'd say the analysis sounds trustworthy. Now I don't assume perfection in anyone. Rather, I think it's about the balance of characteristics and that all-important but elusive quality ... being 'present' in the moment. Come to think of it, I believe that's an 'actor' term. While I've not seen you perform on stage, I have a gut hunch that you do it well because of being 'present' that way.
All of my close friends seem to share that quality one way or another. Little wonder you and I have no problem monopolizing the phone lines on the first try. =0)
I share bruinwi's skepticism about this type of test ... and probably go even further in that I don't put much store in clinical psychiatry either. The fact is, I'd have pegged you for those results even without the test ! *HUGS*
