Yesterday was a day off for me from "Wonderful Town" and the visiting [livejournal.com profile] gotmoof and I grabbed it as an opportunity to get out of downtown Seattle and head North to the Skagit Valley. We were about two weeks early for the tulips which splash the fields with vivid color; regardless, photo opportunities were abundant. Tim and I had a terrific, relaxing day ... enjoying the chat and the silences in equal measure. It's been a nice vacation for Tim and a rare chance for me to spend time with a dear friend. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from our day trip.

I've retreated to Skagit Valley three or four times in the years I've been coming to Seattle. The tulip festival is the first two weeks of April, so Tim and I were too early for the fields, but we still found many photo ops. I love it here! Just know I'm following along and wishing you the best on the workfront! HUGS!

Nice shots Neil! If all goes well in the next few days, I'll be on my way to doing some of that as well, ie, little day trips around the area. :-)

I'd have liked it if it had been a tad warmer yesterday even though it was beautiful outside.

Looks a tad dif'rent this morning don't it? :-)

One of the things I like about Seattle is the changing weather. I particularly like that is mostly seems to change on the cold side. I like this climate a lot:)!

All those lovely flowers...and it's barely breaking 50 here. Still, when the locals trade in their parkas for windbreakers, spring is in the air.

Glad you had some time to decompress and literally smell the flowers.

"Wonderful Town" was supposed to be on our theatre tour (www.popejoypresents.com) next May, but it dropped off the schedule. :(

It's a show I know NOTHING about!

Howdy! It was written by Leonard Bernstein, and the lyric-writing team of Comden and Green. It won the 1954 Tony for Best Musical. The source material is "My Sister Eileen", first a serial in newspapers, then a novel, then a straight play. It starred Roz Russell. It was revived in 2003 on Broadway starring Donna Murphy, then Brooke Shields. It was supposed to tour this year with Luci Arnaz. It was cancelled (don't know why). However, Luci Arnaz is going back to Broadway soon in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels". Two of the most well-known numbers from the show are "Why Oh Why, Ohio" and "Conga!"

Such wonderful pictures. Brings back memories of driving from Bellingham to Seattle, coming down the hill into the Skagit Valley and seeing fields of flowers.

Glad you both are having a good time :)

He seems to be as fine as possible for a man who is 75 and had a stroke three years ago. I don't think anyone realized how traumatic the initial fall was for him; then the interaction of medications worsened the results. He was up at the car dealership today getting his truck worked on and visiting with the mechanics he's known for years, so it sounds like things are pretty much back to normal. AND ... thank you for remembering ....

You're welcome, my friend! I'll post a few more ... especially if I can get back up to the valley when the tulips are in full bloom ... There is nothing more stunning than hundreds of acres of vibrant-colored flowers. HUGS!
