Today's our final tech rehearsal ... the fourth day of 12-hour rehearsal periods. The show's coming together nicely and today we add another layer ...costumes and wigs. We'll spend the five hours this afternoon on Act 1 and the five hours tonight on Act 2, giving everyone a chance to practice the numerous quick changes. Since I've got one character, one costume, I'm going to try to photograph a lot of the rehearsal from the orchestra section of the audience ... nothing official, just candid shots. Here's a couple of photos from this past week ... and my new look for Officer Lonigan. Be kind! *grin*

You look great! Although I will agree, the full beard looks most excellent on you (but then again, I'm partial to goatees/beards).

I've not been inside the 5th Ave and that is one lovely ceiling.

THat sunset shot is indeed lovely and rather stormy looking, just what's expected this time of year. :-)

The sunset was beautiful ... The sun was trying really hard to peek through, but the storm clouds were gathering. I love the view of Elliott Bay from Pikes Market!

Interesting pictures -- and very nice chops -- makes you look even younger than you already do. :-)

Pictures of today's run-through would be fun to see.

I took about 80 photos today of my fellow actors in their costumes for the first time. I've got some good ones. I'll post them as soon as I can catch up to myself:) Hugs!

Thanks, I'm going to post a few more pictures from the costume run today in the coming days. I think the designer has done a really good job ... the wig department too.

Funny you should say that ... It is physically impossible for me not to tap or poke someone with it when I'm standing around during tech. I've even used it for PT ...rolling it up and down the spines of some of the other actors:) So far, no one's got too annoyed with me. *grin*

Good jawbones and red hair! My aren't you decidedly looking Irish these days.
And dressed up in a uniform. There will be many in the audience falling in love with you.

Looks like a lovely theater. Any info about it: when built, style etc?

Thanks and glad to hear things are going well.

What are the one hundred ways to loose a man? (winking)

The 5th Avenue Theatre was built in 1928 as a Vaudeville house and then became a movie palace. It's got sort of a Mooracan feeling to the architecture and furnishings. It has a very tiny backstage, especially on stage right. Most of the set pieces are flying above our heads and brought in just for the scenes in which they are required. It is the space where I was performing in 2001 when the Earthquake hit. It has, since that 6.8 shake, been retrofitted. It holds a little over 2000 patrons. It's a great place to see a show ... very much an event!

There are only four ways to a lose a man detailed in the song. I think I've experienced most of the other 96 at one time or another:)

Hugs, Boyo!

Thanks, Bob! They let me keep the sides of my mustache drooping down which I kind of like for a character look. I'm nervous about making a mistake when shaving. I've never had this combination before. Maybe, I'll go to a fu man chu mustache after "Wonderful Town" is over. I haven't had one of those since I was 22! Glad the photos of Seattle bought back good memories for you! HUGS!

I have two people I have to arrest in the show ... one's a hooker ... the other's a character, a newspaper reporter by the name of "Chick". An actor friend of mine is playin the role and Jim is 6'4". I have to muster all of the threatening posture I can since he's three inches taller:) I can't have my billyclub because we go right from me grabbing him into a musical number where I have to dance ... *sigh* .... *grin* ... Try to make that work!

As to your remark ... It hurts so good when I'm the cop:)

Thanks for the good wishes! HUGS!

That night we had dinner, I was kinda mentally re-arranging your beard, but I thought Mary was going to leave the chops connected to the moustache......I guess thet WOULD look too 1890's...

Holy crap!! FOUR 10-outta-12's?!? FOUR?!?

I thought 2 was bad! Don't they do a separate QC rehearsal?

You're gonna want a couple of inkies under your visor, so we can see your eyes!

The WCLO contract is always four 10 of 12s. We've made through in good shape. Tomorrow afternoon we do a dress rehearsal; tomorrow night is the wanderprobe! We ran the show today and only stopped if quick changes didn't go well. There are some really fast ones, especially for the two leading ladies. There are 280 costumes in the show. I really like the sets and costumes on "Wonderful Town". The pallete consists of bright, primary colors ... picture postcards of Greenwich Village and New York. Very stylized. HUGS!

Hey, I like your new LJ format.

Like that officer Lonigan, oy! Rattle some bells, oy! The open collar makes you look more 70's cop than 30's to my unknowing eyes... I sort of pictured wider ends on the mustache that runs down to your chin and a double-breasted jacket, but what do I know? Ya look GREAT, laddy! MUCH younger, and butch in a quirky porn star kind o' way. If some queen wrote a musical about porn stars, would you star? :-) I think you make a far more credible porn star than some generic beefcake - specifying that's a compliment knowing you! LOL

Gorgeous sunset pix - looks just like you.

I'm just wearing a black polo shirt in the picture. I was trying to show the facial hair configuration wearing the police hat. I'll post the uniform pictures when I get them. I'm wearing a double-breasted navy wool uniform with a leather shoulder harness belt with a place to hang my billy club.

I've never been considered porn material before ... Thank ye, Laddie! ... Well, at least since the 1970s ... Isn't it time for a remake of "Kansas City Trucking", "LA Tool and Die" and "El Paso Wrecking Company"?

I appreciate the compliments, my friend! HUGS! Btw, I have no idea how I got that format. I just signed on two days ago and it was like that. I didn't change anything, but glad you like it! :)

You have an impressively nice chin, unlike me (one of the reasons I really don't like to shave the chin whiskers). I'm sure you won't choose to keep this particular look past the run of the show, but it's quite delightful just the same. ;-)

Thanks, Chip! It's kind of fun to have a different look for awhile. I'll probably go back to a goatee after the show is done, but who knows. The 5th is doing "West Side Story" next season and I've done Officer Kruptke before. Maybe I'll throw my hat in to play it again ... though Kruptke is clean-shaven (the 1950s). It's like doing Lonigan ... but no song. HUGS!

Have you read "The History of Gay New York" by George Chauncey? it has a whole chapter of extracts from period diaries on how men can pick up Irish policemen, you'd make an ideal cover model for the book.

Looking forward to the rest of the costume pictures, the design sounds great

I'll have to read the book! I'll post more pictures as soon as I can get them loaded onto the computer. We're doing a dress rehearsal this afternoon, wanderprobe tonight and they've actually given us a day off tomorrow. Unheard of! We'll do orchestra dress on Tuesday afternoon and first preview Tuesday night.

Hope you're doing well!

HUGS!
