Wish Me Luck!
Sep. 25th, 2020 08:16 am The days are passing so quickly. Next week, I begin my extra work schedule which will last about 12 weeks. This week, I work one day; next week, five. I've been trying to catch up on items I've let slide: partial reimbursement for my eyeglasses (bifocals) from the insurance company, address changes for my pension and credit union accounts. (They don't make it easy. A simple phone call is not sufficient. They're got a form of secure email which is not compatible with my 10 year old MacBook, so the changes still haven't been made.) I've called multiple times to see if there's been resolution on the fraud claim I submitted to my bank two months+ ago and I'm still trying to get a dental procedure covered.
I started Christmas shopping back in August. I now have gifts for my four grandnieces, all handmade by a neighbor and one for my niece, Caitlin. My brother Jeff's 60th birthday is Monday, so today is the day I must get something in the mail ... priority. Yesterday, I got my flu shot. I scheduled it specifically with my favorite nurse. (She's retiring in April) We were chatting and she gave me the shot before I knew it. I didn't feel a thing! For my friends who might be wary of a flu shot, ask for the Themerosal-free shot. Some people have a negative reaction because of the preservative in the flu shots. I've had zero negative reaction to the flu shot for years.
I scheduled an appointment with my primary care physician for next month. I haven't been talking about it, but the neuropathy in my feet has gotten worse and sleep is difficult because of it. The last time I saw her in person, about a year ago, we were trying to figure it out. I decided to make the appointment because I was told she is pregnant; her baby is due in March. It may be awhile before I can see her in person due to maternity leave. (My PCP is a young Lesbian, married to a woman, so this is very exciting news!) I must get blood work completed prior to that appointment.
My sister Colleen comes to visit from October 5th to 11th. It's taken me 10 years to get her to visit Minnesota, so I'm thrilled she's coming (but, also emotionally preparing myself for the opposite because of the pandemic). One of my neighbors wants to have a small reception for her; many of them want to meet Sis. I've booked a hotel in Duluth for two nights that week. I'm hoping the Fall foliage will still be vibrant. I hope to take Colleen to Split Rock Lighthouse, Gooseberry Falls and on a tour of Glensheen Manor, but at the same time, I have to be aware of what she can physically handle. I never know how she'll be feeling with her fybromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue.

This tree is a block from my building. It is usually one of the first trees to turn. Fall is here! The photo of my grandnephew Jordan is random. I'm including it because it may be one of my favorite photos ever! The last photo is an update! I have indeed voted early!
I'm going to Early Vote in person today. I want to block out the noise over the election. I had planned to be in Spain in November, but we all know why that didn't happen. All I can control is making sure I vote. The Early Voting Center is only a couple of miles from my building and it's an opportunity, hopefully, to see
seekerval.
Tomorrow is my neighbor Daisy's 75th birthday. Two of us are taking Daisy out to dinner for her birthday. (She's seldom left the building since March.) Also, tomorrow morning I'm going to test my ankle and play Pickleball. Wish me luck!
