So odd to think I'm beginning my second decade in Minneapolis, but it's also odd it's already 2020. I moved five times in my years in Minnesota ... St Louis Park, Plymouth, Minnetonka, North Minneapolis and now Northeast Minneapolis ... Next thing you know, I'll wind up in St Paul. Ha! Looking at it from a different perspective, that's rent, own, rent, own, rent ... I think renting suits me best.

Nine months in a 62+ community have taught me aging does not mean giving up, slowing down or caring less. I still dream of new adventures and am much better at dreaming them into being ... aka planning. I have become much better at nurturing friendships and taking care of myself. Rescuing my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Georgie, in May 2018, combined with working as a caregiver for my autistic nephew Ross from 2014-2017, has shown me I'm capable of a level of patience and understanding I would never have expected. When given the opportunity to love, I discovered I had reserves that had gone untapped. What a wonderful discovery this late in life!

At the end of November 2019, I began another weight loss journey. I've lost the same 40 lbs over and over in my lifetime; once lost, the lbs always returned, to my thinking, in less attractive ways. I am hopeful this journey is different. I've lost 30 lbs following a low-carb, no-sugar Keto diet. I was recently gifted with an air fryer and a cookbook specific to this appliance and hope to implement it as a weight loss tool. The Keto diet has also resulted in an improved kidney function.

I like to give each year a title. 2020 is "The Year of Leaving the US Behind", just as 2019 was "The Year of Saying Yes". I have three trips outlined beginning with a trip to San Antonio and central Texas later this month. England, Scotland and Ireland are on the calendar for Summer and Spain in November. A fourth trip, to Texas for Christmas, is likely.

This year in May, I become a Grand Uncle for the 8th time, my sister turns 65 in August, my brother turns 60 in September; several other milestone events are on the horizon. I hope to be fully grounded in the moment; not living in the past, but remembering the present is a gift.

Still a frequent post-guy on Facebook. Only check DreamWidth now and again--I haven't gotten into the habit of blogging again. Yet.
