I feel like I'm treading time. I hope ya'll understand what I mean. I've heard of treading water, treading lightly, but I am anxious for events next week and next month to get here and go well. On December 20, I begin my roadtrip to Texas for the holidays with my family. I hope to visit a Texas with a Senator O'Rourke and return in early 2019 to a Minnesota with a Governor Walz and Senators Smith and Klobuchar. In other words, I am hoping the election this coming Tuesday results in a tsunami of victories for Democrats! Our country desperately needs good news.

Yet, I have a lot of living to do before the trip to Texas occurs. thespian15 and I have two events this month to share: I'm seeing Cirque du Soleil (11-10) and Lewis Black (11-30) with Jon. I am excited about sharing those two events with him. The musical "Book of Mormon" is on the schedule for November 15th at The Orpheum Theater and a new musical by Dolly Parton, "A Smokey Mountain Christmas" is November 18th at The Ordway in St Paul. I'll be celebrating Thanksgiving with friends at our annual potluck on 11-22; the night before is my dance group's pre-Thanksgiving dance and we have a Christmas dinner and dance the second weekend of December.

As you can see, I really shouldn't be looking ahead, but with new family members to meet, I am anxious to get on the road again. Georgie is going with me. He's really good about riding in the car and equally understanding of listening to show tunes for 1244 miles. LOL!

The photos I'm including are of 2 month+ old Caden and three week old Carson, the children of my niece Caitlin and her husband Danny and my nephew Ryan and his wife Lauren. I haven't seen any of Ryan's kids in two years since they weren't at the family Christmas last year. It's important to me the kids know who I am and how I fit into the family. Christmas will be chaotic and scattered. (There's a rift over another nephew and his wife being anti-Vaccers and following a cult-like internet minister "Jews for Jesus" which will keep all of us from being together at the same time. It makes me sad, but I understand not exposing the new babies to a child who has not received a single vaccination.)

I'll negotiate the minefield and enjoy the family I do see. Along the way, I should see a few friends - Steve in Little Rock; Coy and John Paul and Evan in Dallas and maybe even Jon in Oklahoma CIty. Three of the friends named were at one time on Live Journal. Meanwhile, until then, I'm treading time.

Next Tuesday feels like a turning point, with dominoes dropping all over that next week.

Good luck with all the family issues!

Enjoy... And when (if?) you see Dolly's show, think of me. I grew up in the foothills. (She's more "mountain" than I am, but her town was not terribly far away from mine.)
