The only sound in the house is that of the clock ticking in the office as I write. My folks just left for Austin to help my sister for a couple of days and I badly need the time to myself to recoup and regroup. I haven't stopped since Tim and I first started our adventure in moving.

Tim (baraksf) left yesterday and I was very sad to see him go. I always am. We spent nearly a month together accomplishing the Great Move and I am in that slump today where it feels completed, my dear friend is safely in Minneapolis and the next stage of planning must be identified and organized.

As one of my Dad's 74th birthday presents on Friday, Tim and I puttered around the house as my folks watched the Reagan funeral coverage endlessly. We didn't engage them in debate or respond to any of Dad's not so innocent baiting comments on how Reagan was the best president ever and others similarly designed to make the hair on my arms stand on end. We even left the room when my younger brother and his wife, over to the house for a birthday party, continued in the same vein with my folks. Jeff is too young to have his brain matter so narrow:)

As I said previously, my dad's brain cells do not connect when it comes to Reagan. He wants to believe Reagan was great and so he does despite the harrowing economic policies of the mid-80s which led to Dad's two layoffs, bankruptcy and ultimately the loss of his home and gutting of his retirement. After the party, Tim, my nephew Brennan and I escaped to take in Shrek 2 a second time. I can just hear my Dad next year at this time...instead of celebrating turning 75, he'll be celebrating the anniversary of Reagan's funeral like it brings him some weird kind of status:)

I spent a wonderful evening with my friends Casey and Ann on Saturday after taking the Divine Bovine to the airport. Ann's daughter and grandchildren came over and the six of us played French Bridge, Uno and Dictionary Dabble after a terrific dinner. These two ladies just feed my heart with their warmth, kindness and love. I actually relaxed...something I don't do well. We sat around this morning watching Ellen De Generes concerts, laughing and enjoying easy silences.

So - I'm back in Brenham listening to the clock ticking and enjoying the quiet. This kind of alone is good....

Well, not with the freeway traffic within earshot of my apartment. :-) But I do enjoy the silence, as I can, with no music or TV going a lot of the time.

We all need that kind of time to ourselves to just unwind, relax and recoup. While it may have been sad to see the Divine Bovine leave, I'm glad you are having a bit of a quiet time to yourself.

Do take care friend.
