"Sometimes, the first step towards forgiveness is realizing the other person was born an idiot."

"I finally realized it ... People are prisoners of their phones ... that's why they're called Cell phones."

"Growing old is hard work ... The mind says "yes"; but, the body says "what the hell are you thinking?"

My life in general is going well. My optimism in part was sparked by the gorgeous weather we had over the weekend. It was in the 60's, sunshine ... just lovely. I took this as an opportunity to sweep the sand and salt residue from my garage floor. The cement is pitted from the Winter leftovers from the underside of my car; but, it's not too bad and is normal for this area of the country. I raked two of my flowerbeds and discovered the first signs of lilies ... just the tips of green poking through, but so welcome. I trimmed back a tree that is growing between my garage and my neighbor's garage. It has been allowed to grow in odd ways and may over time challenge the integrity of my garage. It felt good to accomplish these tasks.

I'll be heading to Bloomington, MN on Wednesday evening to see a production of Stephen Sondheim's "Follies". It is a tough show to pull off, but I'm hoping for the best. I love the score and it's on my bucket list in which to perform.

Also, coming up in late June is a quick trip to Raleigh/Durham, NC for a wedding. My friend Casey's daughter is getting married in the town where she completed her internship for VA work. Carrie is a psychiatrist specializing in PTSD in veterans. Her soon-to-be husband Dave is from Durham. Casey will be flying in from Houston, Carrie and Dave from Bremerton, WA where they both currently work. To my delight, I'm staying with dan4behr, Dan Overby, and his partner Brian. I first met Dan here on Live Journal and we stay in touch on Facebook; this will be the first time to meet in person!! I am so looking forward to it.

Oh, I also attended a dog rescue event over the weekend. I enjoyed it a lot; but, the dogs I had been most interested in required another dog in the home and I was not allowed to rescue for that reason. It's a bit annoying; but, this rescue specializes in dogs from puppy mills that have had very little contact with humans. I have mixed feelings; but, I have no dogs. I will find the perfect dog for me. I'm convinced.

Finally, a year ago yesterday, I flew to Italy to begin the most amazing vacation I've ever taken.

So, this is my life in general ... currently low key, but with promise ...
