mrdreamjeansIt was an incredibly busy weekend. My twin nephews showed up to 2 hours late on Saturday to help their uncle move furniture from storage; but hey, they showed up:) They're 19. Enough said ... Most of the rooms are set up. I've unpacked many boxes and put things away and it's coming together. It's my style to have the placement of the major elements of my living space planned in my head; they are then placed exactly where they're going to live as they're carried into the house.
Most of this week will be spent on covering the windows with some sort of treatment and hanging art work. I've taken some before and after photos to post; then I'll do a final set when all is in place. After all, you all need to know where you will be staying when you come to visit:)
My nephew Ryan did an amazing job on my yard; not only did he mow, edge and clean up, he trimmed bushes and trees (a real chore) and worked especially hard to remove an enormous climbing vine which was dead from a freeze. The real estate person warned me that the vine has beautiful pink flowers in season, but it attracts bees in the Spring and Summer to the point that you risk being stung going in the back door of the house! It's gone!
As I said previously, it was like Christmas over the weekend, opening boxes that had been in storage anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years. Many of the items I had forgotten I owned. gotmoof with the boxes packed in Seattle in May 2004. Tim and I pulled off a 4400-mile move from SF and Seattle back to La Crosse and Brenham that year. During my final days in Seattle, I was finishing up "Man of La Mancha" performances and so Tim volunteered to help pack up the apartment. No one could have done a better job. He was patient and thorough; nothing was damaged or broken in any of the boxes he packed. I am particularly appreciative of the attention he paid to the artwork! A shout out to Tim for superlative packing skills! Call him if you need your boxes packed and sealed:)! It involves lots of tape ...
