Normally, I look at the end of the holidays with some sadness. The fun times with family and friends are over and the long, dreary days of January are upon me. However, this year is different. I couldn't wait for 2006 to end! In 2004, I spent New Years Eve in Sarasota, Florida with "Evita" doing two shows; the same in 2005, but in Washington, DC. I wasn't working this year, but I stayed in; I don't drink and don't like being on the road after everyone else has been. Also, sharing DNA with someone I barely know to ring in the new year has lost its appeal. Consequently, I was up early yesterday. Mom and I took down the Christmas tree and put away the decorations; we watched the Rose Parade and parts of several bowl games (Go Boise State!) and worked in the garden in the brisk air under the winter sun. Today, I start my job. It's a new beginning.
