Today was a good day! Last winter, my brother, sister and I agreed to gift my folks with two trees and have them planted in honor of their 53rd anniversary (November 24). A 30-gallon Live Oak and 45-gallon Lavender Crepe Myrtle were planted this afternoon in the front yard. Mom and Dad are thrilled. Their acre of land had no trees and the new additions are welcome ones!

About 4pm, my folks and I drove to my brother's house in the neighboring town and took pictures of my twin nephews and their dates to the High School Prom. The boys looked handsome in their dark suits and their dates, beautiful, in their surprisingly tasteful white and blue gowns. I took lots of digital pictures (after dropping and nearly destroying my camera) inside the house (under the deer heads), outside (under the trees) and in front of their bright red newly-washed Ford 350 Truck. Teens here know how to go to the Prom in style in their Texas Limos:) Hehehe! Might sound odd, but not in Texas. The twins' dates both drive pick-ups too....

This evening, Jeff and Lisa took Mom, Dad and me to dinner at our little regional airport in Brenham. There is a 1950s-style diner on-site called the SkyWay Diner. It is charming, with a big deck overlooking a small lake ... and the runway. The teenage waitresses wear poodle skirts and the juke box plays mostly Elvis. The food is all homemade.

Jeff had the chicken-fried steak, stewed tomatos and okra and creamy lima beans. We had apple crisp and pecan pie with ice cream for dessert. Mom had a strawberry shake made of BlueBell Ice Cream. We all shared a plate of fried pickles. People in private planes fly in from all over the country just to eat at the diner and fly home. Who knew?!!! Who knew that fried pickles and ranch dressing could be so good. Yum! Anybody wanna fly in and get some pickles:)?

ps...We didn't talk about college....
