Still sick. Not up to writing many words, so I've turned to photos. I came across these photos from past Januarys earlier this evening between naps on the couch. I've been to some beautiful places. Enjoy! (Double Click to Enlarge)

Twistee Treat - Sarasota
I may have posted this photo before, but
it's one of my favorites

Gardens at Biltmore House
Asheville, NC 2006

Taken by a random tourist ... Here I am
in my turkey shirt in front of the Vanderbilt Mansion

Not a January picture, but there's not many
places more lovely than San Juan Capistrano

Bells in the Courtyard at
San Juan Capistrano

One of my favorite photos of [livejournal.com profile] gotmoof
This was taken in January 2000 just after Tim moved
to San Francisco.

We just passed by the Twistee Treat a couple of months ago when my friend, Jacqui, got married in Sarasota. I never got to take a photo of it.

It was my first time ... October of 2005. So much beauty and peace. I can understand why you go there often. I feel that way about the Bouchart Gardens in Victoria. I've been there a dozen times.

Well, now you have one! :) It's such a unique piece of cultural kitsch.

HUGS!

Love the turkey shirt!

Sorry to hear you're still feeling badly. I've spent many hours in rooms with people who were coughing and hacking this week; woke up coughing in the night, and when I got up this morning my throat feels like hamburger and my voice is a cross between Lauren Bacall and Harvey Fierstein. 'Tis the season.

Great photo of the Twistee Treat stand! I adore programmatic architecture like that. And a visit to Biltmore House down in Ashville is definitely on my to-do list.

I haven't. As you know, my doctor is my best friend from college. I could have phoned. I couldn't decide if it was a cold or sinus infection and now, it's breaking up. If it doesn't clear up by the end of the weekend, I'll be giving him a holler (now that my voice is back:)

It's interesting with this "Cedar fever", I never had a sore throat and I have very little congestion in my chest (or a cough). It's all in the passagio as singers call it ... all very much in the mask behind my nose and eyes.

Feel better soon!

As to the turkey shirt ... If you're going to do flannel, it might as well be fun! :)

HUGS!

The Twistee Treat ... such a wonderful bit of kitsch. I need to go out and photograph one of the original Whataburgers with there orange and blue inverted "V" roof line. Asheville is definitely worth a trip! Not only for the Biltmore House, but for the professional theatre in the area and the history.

HUGS!

ps .. I often look at some of my photos like the Tastee Twist and think wouldn't that make a great postcard for Chuck! :)

Well ya know ... if you came across a postcard that was that kind of kitsch, you would HAVE to send it to me!

I love the Biltmore. I haven't been up there to see my great aunt in ages, but the area is so amazing.
Hugs

Sounds like a great excuse for a road trip! It's such a beautiful area and lots to do. Go by Pigeon Forge, visit Dollywood ... Nashville for the Grand Ole Opry ... Lots of amazing photo ops!

Hugs to you too, Sean!

Well, two very handsome gentlemen [livejournal.com profile] texwriterbear and [livejournal.com profile] anziulewicz have indicated an interest in seeing the home too. Perhaps, a group road trip should be planned. I can see the dotted read line on a virtual map, as it tracks the progress of you driving from Minneapolis, Sean from Houston and Chuck from West Virginia. Plus, two hours away, hidden in the hills between Knoxville and Kingsport, TN there's a rustic nudist resort for Gay men. Log cabins, hot tubs and shenanigans in the woods!

HUGS!

Such wondeful photos ... you should get sick more often [JUST kidding :0)]

- Love the Twistee Treat - divine lunacy, and those yucca plants seem to complement it perfectly.
- Did you know they built Biltmore just for me ?? ... well at least it's sort of my taste in my wildest dreams (can't you just see all those cute gardeners and young valets dashing about the palace !)
- OMG, that really is a shirt with turkeys on it ... and here I thought it was something you wore when you go turkey hunting out there in Texas (what WAS I thinking ?!)
- The Capistrano shots are so lovely and picturesque ... but um, where are the damn swallows? ...guess they have to be gone so they can return every year -can't fight logic like that :0)
- handsome shot of the ever-adorable gotmoof!

Thanks! I always said I could be happy living in the barn at The Biltmore Estate. Imagine the blacksmith and the groomsmen:) As to the shirt ... Yep, it's a flannel shirt with turkeys on it. See, I do have a sense of humor:)

HUGS!
