Greetings to Tim, Tim, Tom and their friends! I haven't written an entry in months, but really enjoy reading what my friends are interested in and how their days are going.

I'm tired today. I just finished a long weekend where we teched the production of "Man of La Mancha" for which I am playing Padre Perez. Saturday and Sunday we were called from noon to midnight with a two-hour dinner break each day. Last night we did an invited dress rehearsal for about 300 "friends and family". The show runs without an intermission; it's intense, exciting and I think will be well-received if the reaction of our invited audience is any indication.

In addition, as Tim (Barak) knows I've created a big fitness challenge for myself. The goal as I come to my birthday next Monday is to be as fit and healthy as possible for the forseeable future. I am working out 3-4 times a week, one day a week with a fitness trainer and am following a 1700 calorie a day eating plan. My goal is to lose 50 lbs in 25 weeks; so far, I've lost 11 lbs in 19 days and have gone down a size in clothing. There is no question that working out works; but damn, I hate it:) I am also journaling. This is the big surprise. You really do think twice before you want to write down Crispy Creme donut(and the corresponding 400 calories for one donut) in your diary:)

I love it when I'm surprised. Out of the blue Saturday morning I received a package from Texas. My friend Diana knitted me a wonderful scarf in honor of my birthday; also in the box was this funny little mouse-in-a-tux-key ring. When you push his stomach, he sings a cheesy version of "New York, New York". He's become my mascot at my spot in the dressing room and most everyone makes him sing at least once a day....good for a laugh.

So many things are happening in my family and friends' lives. Several people have made big moves for work (I hope that Basso arrived in LA safely after living in the Bay area for 26 years) or their jobs are in flux, including me. After La Mancha, I hope a more lucrative role isn't an impossible dream (I've got some things in the works)

My Uncle Dale has had a stroke and has had a voice box implant to be able to speak; my tennis-pro cousin Todd has relapsed and is now near death from leukemia; my sister may have MS. I think about all of these things and my relative isolation from their problems/conditions here in the Pacific Northwest and wish I could do more.

I guess these serious issues, along with our political state of the union (Be Patriotic! Vote Bush out of office in November!); the terrorism in Madrid (Anyone else had the thought that our country would be safer, less of a target without the Bush Administration in office and that that might be an effective strategy in defeating him for reelection) and my impending birthday have made me more introspective and refective than usual.

Well, I will fight the good fight and continue to work towards my fitness and career goals. My friends are always in my thoughts and my heart. I'd like to hear from them; I'll be back and cheerful tomorrow, but looking at the clock, I'd better get some sleep and tomorrow will look different. I'd like it if others of Tim, Tim and Tom's friends would like to say hello. I promise to be better (and shorter) at writing:) Ciao!
