mrdreamjeans: (Stormy Weather)

Yesterday, I posted an update about puppies being sold from parking lots. Gotmoof (Tim), in a comment to the post, suggested I do something about it or stop bitching:) He is absolutely right, particularly since he was a witness to the subject of my post Puppy Mills in Parking Lots. I want you to know that I have taken action, though I'm not happy with the answers I received.

I called the Sheriff's Department, Animal Control and the Animal Shelter today and described the situation, gave examples and aired my concerns. In all three cases, the final answer to my questions was the same. No one is breaking a law, except to be guilty of bad judgment and that the situation was unfortunate. The director of the Animal Shelter suggested that the next time I saw the pup sales happening on Wal-Mart property to get the management involved; however, if the store doesn't mind, there is nothing else to do.

I am going to take it a step further. If I can't stop it in my county and town, then I am going to go by and check out the local animal shelter and see how it operates. I will also look into how it is supported and perhaps volunteer my services if it seems that it would fill a need.

I appreciate everyone's comments and suggestions and, as you can see, I've taken bits and pieces from those who commented on my blogs on the subject. Tim was correct; it's like voting, if you're not willing to back up your words with action, then you have no right to bitch:)

That's great Neil.

Just bitching makes you a complainer, doing something about it keeps you from being a complainer. :-)
