Tonight we completed the first three months of the "Evita" Tour. The final performance in Greenville, South Carolina was our 71st of the run, an odd number because of last week's split between Schenectady and Sarasota where we only had seven shows instead of eight.

We have the next four weeks off and we're heading all different directions tomorrow to our points of origin (where we have said we want to be flown to when we have layoff weeks). It's an odd blip in the schedule. I've never been on a tour with this many consecutive weeks off. We will have one rehearsal when we reconvene in Wallingford, CT on February 7 before launching right back into the swing of things. To add to the pressure, Hal Prince and Larry Fuller will be at that rehearsal.

I was very proud of the company. In the past two weeks we've only done one show with a full cast; illness and injuries took their toll, but we gave very good performances, even at times when we were three people down. Here in Greenville, we got standing ovations every night, ovations that began with only the chorus on stage, before the leads even came out. I've got to say that is gratifying.

It was personally a tough week for me, given my respiratory illness, the fall in the shower and the death of my uncle, but I didn't miss any performances. Sometimes, work offers a buffer during the tough times, as a discipline that gets you through personal challenges. At least, that how it works for me.

I'm staying an extra day in this area. I found a flight on Tuesday which flies directly to Houston in 2 hours, 20 minutes. If I had taken the flight the company lined up for me tomorrow, it would have been 9 hours of travel. Don't ask:) I plan to drive to Ashville, NC tomorrow and see the famed Biltmore Estate, will enjoy some quiet time to myself before heading home to family.

Thanks to all of you who wrote such kind words of sympathy for all that has happened this week. It made me feel less isolated and certainly supported. Hugs! Next time I write, I'll be home!
