Grin Money
Apr. 17th, 2007 10:03 pmAs I'm working on contract for the communications training firm, I get paid by the hour. The framework for pay for my participation in the Louisiana drill was a bit different. I received a flat fee for today and the company paid for all associated trip expenses .. hotel, transportation, airfare, meals and incidentals. One of the owners of this firm is an ole Mississippi farm boy and has a store of homey phrases. He came up to me before we left for the airport yesterday and said, "Hey Neil! You need you some grin money?" I declined, but love the phrase:) (Thanks to
pagerbear, I see where I need to be clearer ... "Grin Money" is pocket money for incidentals.)
Dinner last night was at a wonderful Greek/Lebanese restaurant in Baton Rouge. I tried a dish for the first time. Any of you ever had a Moussaka Meat Plate? It came with rice and a feta cheese salad. Good Lord, it was tasty! It's a new favorite!
In closing ...The drill went really well! I role-played as a Fox News 44 reporter and chose a persona where I kept trying to get spokespersons to go off-topic or repeat negative phrases. It was fun and a terrific learning experience. We were filmed while conducting interviews, mic in hand, for an internal live feed. Personally, I learned that that I do not film well from the side or behind. It's been a long time since I was on camera. I will now be taking renewed, invigorated and reinforced interest in joining
nlotic and
mncuddlecub on their diet journey. I've always known that a camera adds 10lbs. The camera filming me overachieved. It added 30lbs! Ha!
